Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Motorcycle Cycle Accessories) has released data relating to the sale of motorbikes and scooters for the month of September. It was a positive month for the former, less so for the latter. Out of a total of 16.371 vehicles over 50 cc registered, an excellent performance was recorded for motorbikes which with 5.870 units reached a +12,9%, while scooters, despite having larger volumes, equal to 10.501 units, suffered a drop. -6,7% compared to the volumes of September 2016. The 50cc with 2.188 registrations are slightly down by -2,7%. September accounts for approximately 8% of total sales for the year.

Corrado Capelli, President of Confindustria ANCMA, comments on these data as follows: “The market stops in September, but the progressive data confirms the recovery that has been underway since 2014, however the volume levels achieved in the pre-crisis years are still far away. Finally the economic scenario shows good prospects, forecasts have been revised upwards and business and consumer confidence returns to more than positive indices. Only political uncertainty still remains a worrying factor. Means of transport have anticipated and driven the economic recovery and the two-wheel sector fits in consistently by continuing to develop product innovation and intercepting the desires of enthusiasts. On the one hand, playing an irreplaceable role in the context of sustainable urban mobility, thanks to the intrinsic characteristics of two-wheeled vehicles, and on the other through product innovations that attract new customers, particularly in the motorcycle segment".

"We are doing our part and we expect political decisions to go in the right direction, encouraging the responsible use of two wheels - he added -. We still don't know when the new Highway Code will reach the finish line, but in the meantime, amendments penalizing off-road activity are looming which we trust will be corrected. Furthermore, the announced increase in investments for the improvement of infrastructure cannot forget the needs of those who travel on two wheels. We remind you that the fleet circulating in Italy has exceeded 2 users. The next edition of EICMA in November with the highly anticipated new models will once again demonstrate the interest and enthusiasm towards motorcycles and scooters".

Sales from January to September totaled 177.230 registrations of over 50cc vehicles, equal to +6,9% compared to last year; of which 104.935 scooters equal to +4,6% and 72.295 motorbikes with an acceleration of +10,4%.
