The summer of two wheels confirms the positive moment with the Italian motorcycle, scooter and moped market that in August, with 18.309 vehicles put on the road, score one growth of 13,5% of registrations compared to the same month last year.

In addition to disclosing monthly market data, Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) announces "the development of a broad package of proposals to the bill for the revision of the Highway Code which - explains the association - has also become necessary in light of the positive trend of the market and a increasing diffusion of two wheels in the country". 

Scooters in strong growth

In the increase of 13,5% of August 2023 on August 2023, the driving force is still the scooter: +22,58%, with 9.746 registered vehicles. Good too motorcycle with 7.337 registrations, equal to +6,94%. The food market is bucking the trend mopeds, which closed negative for the third consecutive month: -6,77%, with just 1.226 units sold.

In the first eight months of the year the cumulative annual register a overall increase of 16,67%, with 258.746 units sold. Scooters took the lion's share with 133.219 registrations and a growth of 24,48% over the period January-August 2022; followed by motorbikes with 111.901 units, with a +12,89%. Mopeds, on the other hand, are still suffering: 13.626 units sold corresponding to a decline of 12,83%. 

Signs of recovery from the electricity market

After two months of decline, growth began again in August (+15,4%). electricity market with 682 registrations: mopeds rising sharply (+73,17%), while scooter registrations fell (-7,77%). The cumulative figure for the electricity market since the beginning of the year remains in negative territory: 9.323 units sold, equal to a loss of 21,32%. On the electric front, ANCMA reiterates its request to the Government to release the unused funds in 2022 for purchase incentives, which are currently frozen.
