Il Italian two-wheel market grew by 1,8% in November. According to data released by ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories), they are the motorcycle, with a solid +15,2%, to support the two-wheel market, allowing it to close on a positive note, despite the significant decline in mopeds. One month from the end of the year, 2023 continues to confirm itself as the best year since 2011 for the trend in registrations of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds in Italy. 

November data

With 16.784 units sold, November is the least performing month for a 2023 market, which however remains in positive territory (1,78% on 2022). There are 7.363 units registered regarding the motorcycle, with a growth of 15,26%. First decline of 2023 for the scooter which with 8.282 registrations lost 3,88%. The trend of the mopeds, which closed November with 1.039 vehicles registered and a decrease of 24,82%.

First 11 months of 2023

Despite the slowdown in November, the cumulative market of 2023 continues to grow in double digits: + 16,07 % and 327.866 units sold. The best performance remains that of scooters: 168.942 registrations (+21,22%). Motorcycles also did well with 141.031 registered vehicles (+14,84%). Negative trend for mopeds with 17.893 units sold (-11,87%). 

Paralyzed electricity market

Worst result of the year for electricity market, with just 544 vehicles registered in November and one decrease of 63,68%, which also pays for the exhaustion of state incentives. The situation of the scooter, with only 285 units registered, equal to -70,98%. 

“In light of these data – underlines ANCMA – the immediate reactivation of the incentives appears necessary by recovering the 5,6 million euros advanced from the 2022 campaign and which have remained unused to date. In view of the foreseeable affirmation of the electric quadricycle market during 2024, the increase in the Ecobouns fund dedicated to the L category appears to be urgent.
