After a slow start to 2024, the Italian two-wheel market go back to running February with over 28.000 new vehicles put on the road, equal to +19,8% compared to the same month last year.

Positive data those released by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) who is the new president of the association Mariano Roman which underlines how "even overcoming that mix between the announcement effect and the sudden exhaustion of purchase incentives for vehicles with internal combustion engines last month has led the market to grow again in a structural and organic way".

“If compared with an already positive February 2023, these data – added Roman – represent a very significant result and tell us once again how motorized two-wheelers, for passion and mobility, have taken on a role of absolute relevance . This is also why we hope to meet the Government soon to discuss some requests and measures, which would strategically allow us to strengthen a leading sector".

Scooters continue to pull

Specifically, registrations in February 2024 reached 28.401 units, with a brilliant performance of the scooter with 13.924 vehicles registered (+23,05%). Good too motorcycle with 13.241 registered units, equal to +17,5% on the same month last year. After three consecutive months of negative signs, the food segment is also growing again mopeds: 1.236 vehicles placed on the market, equal to +11,96%. 

First two months of the year positive

The excellent performance of the month of February brings the market back into positive territory cumulative figure for the first two months of 2024: 49.494 registered vehicles, equal to one + 9,97 %. The data relating to the first two months of the year are positive for scooters, with 24.623 vehicles registered (+11,72%), motorcycles, 22.624 registered units (+9,02%) and mopeds, 2.247 units sold (+1,44 %). 

Electricity still decreasing

The food market remains in negative territory electrical, having a decrease of 16,86% on February 2023, although recovering (thanks to state incentives) compared to -58,87% in January. In February 2024, 700 electric vehicles were registered, of which 420 scooters which lost a fifth of their volumes (-20,15%). The data for the two-month period, with a cumulative 1.057 zero-emission units, shows a decrease of 38,19% compared to the same period in 2023.
