Data relating to registrations of motorbikes, scooters and mopeds in the month of March 2024 in Italy, with 35.605 registered units, they mark a chalo of 5,21% compared to the same month a year ago. However the quarter remains positive with +3% on 2023.

Commenting on the data released by Confindustria ANCMA, the president Mariano Roman stated: “The poor weather conditions, the comparison with a particularly positive 2023 and the presence of fewer working days in the calendar help us to better understand the monthly market trend. Despite the fluctuating start to the year, 2024 to date marks a +3% on last year and once again confirms the centrality and protagonism of two wheels as a mobility solution and a factor in leisure and passion".

Positive first quarter

Looking at the March data, the trend of the segments is rather uniform: the motorcycle 17.431 vehicles were registered (-4,09%), the scooter recorded 16.704 units (-6,36%), while i mopeds marked 1.470 units sold (-5,04%). The cumulative figure for the first three months of 2024 recorded 85.113 new vehicles put on the road, with a growth of 3,08% on the same period of a year ago. These are the quarterly data by segment: scooters 41.329 vehicles (+3,64%), motorcycles 40.067 vehicles (+2,93%) and mopeds 3.717 vehicles (-1,22%). 

Electricity market, in March -3,01%

The decline was more limited electric vehicle market, who close the month of March with a decrease of 3,01%, equal to 1.065 vehicles sold. The ones who bring volumes are above all the mopeds which, also thanks to an order, grew by 32,02% and put 503 units on the market, while the drop in scooter, which lost 24,16 percentage points and registered 518 vehicles; However, the trend is good motorcycle with 44 units sold in March and a growth of 29,41%. The cumulative annual figure is still in negative territory, with a drop of 24,36% for a total of 2.124 units sold.
