Honda CB750 Hornet: an evocative name, a lively new naked
New twin-cylinder engine, 92 horsepower
Honda CB750 Hornet it is the new piece of a historic production of the Japanese brand. A project featuring a sinuous design and a new parallel twin-cylinder propulsive heart with a 270° crankshaft.
Design
The sinuous and clear lines define an extended aesthetic, on which the designers of the Honda R&D center in Rome worked, already working on models such as CRF1100L Africa Twin e X-ADV, In addition to overview Neo Sports Café. Recalling the aesthetics of the Hornets seen previously, a contemporary vision was proposed with a bold and compact silhouette.
Among the distinctive elements is the tank which evokes the shape of a bumblebee's wing. A factor linked to the aesthetic traits of a distinguishable model, ranging from the sharp front to the minimalist profile of the rear area. There are various accessories that can be combined, and the packages are indicated to facilitate selection Sport, Style e Touring.
The shades that cover the model are: Pearl Glare White with Metallic Red Flame frame and Red anodized fork; Graphite Black with Metallic Red Flame frame and Red anodized fork; Matte Iridium Gray Metallic e Mat Goldfinch Yellow.
Technique and technology
The motorbike has headlights full-LED and the directional indicators are automatically deactivated and integrate, as already indicated, an ESS (Emergency Stop System) emergency braking warning system.
The equipment is on 5 inch color TFT screen with connectivity via Honda Smartphone Voice Control for Android and iOS devices.
The engine is embraced by a new steel frame with a diamond structure, whose weight is contained given the optimization of thickness and rigidity of the tubes and walls.
The chassis includes a 41 mm Showa SFF-BPTM upside-down fork and a Showa shock absorber with Pro-Link linkage, furthermore the braking system is made up of double four-piston radial-mount calipers. The bike wears a 120 front tire and a 160 rear.
The engine is a compact one parallel twin of 755 cc with 8-valve Unicam distribution, already known from the CRF overview models, characterized by vortex intake channels (Vortex Flow Duct) and descending intake ducts. Highlighted features also include a primary transmission that also activates the balancer shaft, a 270° crankshaft and a six-speed gearbox with assisted clutch and anti-hopping.
The power reaches altitude 92 horses (67,5 kW) with a torque peak of 75 Nm. Given a weight of 190 kg with a full tank of petrol, we highlight a weight/power ratio that is outstanding in the category of 0,36 kW/kg or 2,81 kg/kW.
A technology is listed among the electronic driving support solutions Throttle By Wire (TBW) and four Riding Modes, including a customizable one with three levels of HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control) traction control integrated with anti-wheelie and three levels of power and engine braking management.
