BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose – Inspired by the heroes of the Paris-Dakar, BMW Motorrad presents a new reinterpretation of the BMW r-nineT, perfectly in line with the spirit of Wheels & Waves.

Lac Rose is the French name for Retba, the pink salt lake, located 35 km northeast of Dakar and less than a kilometer from the Atlantic coast. It is here that, after many exhausting stages in the desert, the Paris-Dakar ended. The BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose has the typical characteristics of the old, very victorious motorcycle, albeit revised in a modern way, and is designed for the road. Off-road qualities have been deliberately omitted. The windshield with typical rally equipment, the typical headlight design with the high mudguard, the large fuel tank and the short rally seat all hark back to the legendary motorcycle. All these elements determine the characteristic horizontal flyline of the BMW G/S motorcycles of the time, punctuating the essential proportions of the BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose. The longer-travel suspension, spoked wheels and knobby tires are a must, as is the red-on-white color scheme and the 101 starting number.

As described by colleagues at Motorlands and from the press release issued by the German brand, BMW's distinctive twin-cylinder boxer engine is located in the center of this well-proportioned motorcycle. It is housed in a tubular frame with a contrasting color design, reminiscent of the highly successful off-road motorcycle. Elements such as the front headlight protection grille, the oil cooler protection grille and the unmistakably perforated underride guard take up the uncompromising functional design of the racing bike to transfer its most distinctive features into the modern era. High-performance components and exclusively designed details, such as the valve covers, attest to the craftsmanship and quality of workmanship employed by BMW to meet the high quality standard of the BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose.
