BMW C 400 X: the debut among medium-sized scooters at Eicma 2017

BMW Motorrad - EICMA marks the arrival on the market of a new product from BMW Motorrad: the BMW C 400, the medium-sized scooter that is fun and perfect for urban use. We are not just talking about a perfect vehicle for the home-office commute, or for getting out of the traffic that grips metropolises, but of a scooter capable of making you rediscover the pleasure of driving (also) as an end in itself.

There are many features that make the BMW C 400 X a luxury scooter, such as the powerful and efficient single-cylinder engine; the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) transmission with a swinging arm that reduces vibrations to a minimum for the benefit of comfort and the ASC automatic control system which guarantees greater safety during acceleration, especially on slippery surfaces.

BMW C 400 X is equipped with a tubular steel frame. The suspension and shock absorber are entrusted to a telescopic fork at the front and two spring forks at the rear. The choice of the spring set-up was made to find the right compromise between a sporty and dynamic character in the saddle, but also a high level of comfort. The braking system (double disc forward and single disc) together with the standard ABS guarantee the right safety.

Speaking of the CVT gearbox, the new engine is a 350 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder, with a declared power of 34 HP at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 35 Nm at 6000 rpm. The behavior is perfect for the metropolis: lots of torque and power available already at low revs with the throttle ready and precise.

The steel tube frame guarantees excellent handling, but also comfort and driving stability. With a wheelbase of 1.565 mm, a steering angle of 63,6 degrees and a wheel size of 81 mm, the new BMW scooter resembles a motorcycle in every way and this makes it perfect for use in the city, but also along country roads and on the motorway, perhaps for a few weekends. The good load capacity, in fact, also makes it perfect for this use.
