The best seller on our market is profoundly renewed, starting from its heart. Performance increases, but so does weight, the 6.5" TFT instrumentation of the Connectivity package becomes standard, while the Rallye version disappears, replaced by the fascinating HP

BMW – For over 35 years the BMW acronyms GS and RT have rhymed with character, power and reliability: essentially they are the state of the art of motorcycles created for touring. Now the two models have been renewed with the introduction of the boxer engine with technology BMW ShiftCam which ensures even more power across the entire rev range, lower emission and consumption values as well as optimized running silence and smooth running. Today we will discover the BMW R 1250 GS 2019. Come with us!

BMW R 1250 GS 2019: all the engine news

The main innovation of the 2019 version of the BMW R 1250 GS it's the engine. The fifth generation of the BMW boxer engine now has more pair and better distributed across all regimes. Maximum power reached 136 HP at 7.750 rpm against the 125 HP of the previous version. There power, however, does not affect consumption, which on the contrary has improved, with a reduction of 4%, thanks to the BMW ShiftCam system, a completely new technology in the motorcycle sector, for the timing and variable lift of the valves on the suction (therefore asynchronously). The automatic stability control ASC (Automatic Stability Control), fitted as standard, ensures high driving safety thanks to the best possible traction.

BMW R 1250 GS HP

The Hill Start Control assistant is now also fitted as standard and enables comfortable starting uphill. The GS has three driving mode: Dynamic Pro, Enduro and Enduro Pro. The DTC system allows for even more efficient and safe acceleration, especially in an inclined position, while theABS-Pro offers even more safety when braking, even when leaning. The new dynamic assistant of DBC braking (Dynamic Brake Control) guarantees greater braking safety, even in difficult situations, preventing involuntary activation of the accelerator. An intervention in the engine management reduces the driving torque during braking, allowing full use of the braking power on the rear wheel. The motorcycle remains stable and the stopping distance is shortened.

BMW R 1250 GS 2019: all the other features and a retouched look

The new R 1250 GS is now equipped as standard with LED headlights and now features as standardConnectivity setup with a 6,5-inch color TFT display. In combination with the standard BMW Motorrad multi-controller, the rider has the option of accessing motorcycle and connectivity functions particularly quickly and comfortably. Electronic suspension adjustment BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), now also available as an option for the R 1250 RT, allows you to reach even higher levels of driving safety, performance and comfort, since the damping is automatically adapted to the current conditions, based on the conditions and driving manoeuvres, and there is also automatic compensation of the ride in all load states. From a technical point of view, the signals coming from the Sensorbox and the two spring travel sensors, front and rear, allow numerous information to be collected and the motorbike to be adapted precisely to the riding conditions.

BMW R 1250 GS HP

The Rallye set-up disappears, replaced by an even more fascinating HP, the historical acronym for the Elica company and which includes a dedicated colour, on a white base. For this variant, the new R 1250 GS, designed for demanding off-road use, can be further optimized with a dedicated set-up, thanks to shock absorbers with increased travel, which significantly increase stability in off-road driving. An advantage that is felt especially on dirt roads. Sports chassis offers advantages to more experienced off-road riders, who know exactly how to translate cushioning reserves into superior performance, without exceeding either the limits of the motorcycle or personal limits. The saddle is variable on multiple positions, from the lowered setup with the seat at 800 mm to the HP style with sporty chassis and single Rallye saddle with the seat at 900 mm. As for the colors, the variants are Cosmicblue metallic and Blackstorm metallic and give a decidedly modern look to the new R 1250 GS and combine the standard forged wheels in matt Granitgrau metallic with black brake calipers, the black painted rear frame, the main body, the handlebars and the powertrain respectively silvered as well as a luggage rack in matt white aluminum and the fairing support in Nürburgsilber.
