Suzuki GSX-8S: the celebratory edition for Schwantz [LIVE PHOTOS]

Thirty years ago Kevin schwantz exalted the fans of the world championship and became world champion of the 500, the then premier class, riding a Suzuki. Now the Japanese brand decided to celebrate the American champion and created a special and limited edition of the GSX-8S, with a livery dedicated to the 1993 world champion. Presented this morning in Turin, at the Autolook Week.

In the presence of the US champion and Franco Uncini, also a 500 world champion riding a Suzuki in 1982, for one of the seven titles won in the premier class by the Japanese company in 63 years in the world of racing. “The 500 riders were gladiators at the time – the words of Schwantz, welcomed by a large audience looking for selfies and autographs – now there is a lot of electronics and there are pros and cons, but MotoGP remains the point of reference for everyone".

The quality characteristics

Returning to the special edition motorcycle, this is the street fighter from Suzuki, which is having great success with the public. The celebratory model, made in just five examples, offers a livery similar to that of the Suzuki RGV500, with which the American won the title. The color, in fact, takes up the colors of the main sponsor of the time, with a white base combined with red and striped in sage green and black.

La GSX-8S sees the red concentrated in the upper part of the tank, the fairing and the single-seat cover for the tail, which is offered as standard here. Obviously it cannot be missed legendary number 34, a real trademark of the American rider, in various areas of the bike.

Output and price

As we said, there are only five examples available and they can be booked from next Monday (4 September) starting at 9.34 am, on the official Suzuki website. Each unit will be autographed by the Texan driver and accompanied by a certificate of uniqueness.

The price is equal to 11.490 € (VAT included) and, to make the reservation, you will need to deposit 500 euros as a deposit. You will then be contacted by the seller to make an appointment at the dealership to finalize the purchase and agree on delivery times.
