A notable debut at the weekend for Pirelli, in the fourth round of the season FIM Superbike World Championship on the asphalt of Circuit of Catalonia. On this occasion, one will be made available for the first time front solution in soft SC0 compound, which can be used during the weekend challenge.

The news

Together with the typologies average SC1 e hard SC2 already used since the beginning of the season, in the quantity of 8 units per rider of each compound in WorldSBK, a Front SC0. A soft compound designed to promote a high level of grip in the frontal area, balancing that guaranteed by the softer types connected to the rear wheel. The Barcelona circuit can be quite demanding when it comes to front tyres, given that it is a technical track with wide corners that allow strong acceleration, straights and various ups and downs and challenging braking, such as that present at the first braking section after the finish line.
Behind it, the solutions already noted in Assen are confirmed: one super soft SCX range e the SCX-A development one (specification B0800) when comparing these options. To these is added the soft SC0 and, only for Superpole and Superpole Race, the extra soft SCQ.

In WorldSSP, however, riders will continue to have access to the front wheel two SC1s in different sizes, the standard for WorldSSP class in 120/70 and the one used by WorldSBK in 125/70 to verify a possible transition to the larger size for this class too, after a first test in the Dutch stage. The third and final solution is represented by the standard SC2. Then, moving on to the rear wheel, the protagonists of the series will be able to opt between the standard SCX and SC0, the latter being better protected in the event of low temperatures and excessive wear, as reported.
In DIABLO Superbike range, speaking of front tyres, until now an SC0 compound was not foreseen. Now Pirelli has decided to introduce this specification and develop it during the season, and then make it a standard solution next year. A further comparison between the standard SCX rears and the B0800 development SCX is also planned in Barcelona, as mentioned. Just like in the WorldSSP class between the 120/70 front and the larger 125/70 one already used in WorldSBK.
