BMW R 18: a new prospectus dedicated to the model [VIDEO]

A concept that recalls a past, the Bavarian tradition, distinguishable by aesthetics and in particular by the voluminous boxer engine that powers the gear. There BMW R 18 is the protagonist of a new dedicated film.

The specimen

Illustrated by Tobias Licht, the various aspects of a customizable and high-performance model emerge. At the beginning of the film, some crucial factors are listed, including the generous cubic capacity of the engine “Big Boxers”, the maximum power expressed, the torque value which amounts to 158 Nm and the standard saddle height which reaches 690 mm.
The aforementioned 1.802 cc air-cooled boxer twin generates 91 horsepower (67 kW) of power at 4.750 rpm and from 2.000 to 4.000 rpm there is over 150 Nm of torque, as mentioned. Data to be considered together with a curb weight of 345 kg, evaluating the information.
A cruiser equipped with a steel frame consisting of a double cradle structure, with welded joints between the steel tubes and cast or forged parts. Also highlighted is a telescopic fork with fork cover and a rear cantilever solution with built-in axle, achieving the effect of a rigid frame. A broader framework of the model was proposed in a previous article.

Two interpretations presented recently are also interesting: one gritty R 18 Dragster and a more sophisticated one The Blechmann R 18. The first interpretation according to Roland Sands has a sporty imprint designed to express strong acceleration and characterized by a double tone metallic blue finish with classic BMW white stripes placed by Chris Wood. The second designed by Bernhard Naumann, a specialist known as "Blechmann", features various interventions that define an athletic and stretched profile, also distinguishable from the design of the light clusters, in particular from the front area. An aesthetic also amplified by a black paint enriched by white BMW Motorrad stripes.
