BMW Motorrad: the millionth GS model with a boxer engine has rolled off the production line

During the day, it rolled off the factory's production line BMW Motorrad of Berlin-Spandau the millionth GS model animated by boxer engine. It's about a BMW R 1250 GS. On this occasion, the presentation of the new BMW R 1300 GS, scheduled on 28 September 2023 at the inauguration of the new one BMW Motorrad World of Berlin.

A legendary production

The specimens BMW Motorrad have been made in Berlin since 1969 and the GS models with a boxer engine since 1980. Today, as mentioned, the release from the production line of the millionth BMW GS with a boxer engine was celebrated, a model R 1250 GS in robe Triple Black Style. The celebrations took place during a factory meeting at the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin-Spandau.

The BMW Motorrad GS models are models with versatile cycling qualities, chosen by numerous travel enthusiasts. Models with sophisticated features, functional technological solutions and designed to tackle long routes, even challenging ones. The history of the BMW GS models starts in the autumn of 1980 with the presentation of the historic R 80 G/S, a new model for the time, given its predisposition to tackle on-road and off-road routes.
Over time this concept, initially driven by a heart of 798 cubic centimeters and a power of 50 horsepower, evolved for over four decades up to the current BMW R 1250 GS. A story that continues with the aforementioned next arrival.
Cutting-edge chassis technology, combined with electronic control solutions between semi-active suspensions, traction, braking and engine drag torque management, are some factors representative of the evolution of the GS proposal.

In the year of which the celebrations are remembered 100th anniversary of BMW Motorrad, another interesting novelty is on the horizon. After the feast of BMW Motorrad Days scheduled from 7 to 9 July 2023, the doors of the BMW Motorrad Welt are scheduled to open on 28 September. Here, directly next to the BMW Motorrad factory in Berlin-Spandau, the new one will be presented BMW R 1300 GS during an exclusive inauguration event. The opening ceremony can be followed via livestream on the social media channels of the BMW Group and BMW Motorrad. The BMW Motorrad Welt in Berlin will be open to visitors from 30 September 2023.
