BMW: the structure of the Motorsport department expands
The roles of technical director and customer racing are born
BMW expands the structure of the Motorsport department to "prepare for the challenges of the future". Under the general direction of BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Marc Bongers, the roles of Technical Director and Customer Racing Manager were created: the first is Christian Gonshor, while the second is Uwe Geyer.
“With this new structure, we are optimizing the way in which the development and testing departments are organized, for our work projects and for customer racing – the words of Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad – This will allow us to increase our capabilities in Munich and at the Berlin plant.”
The new departments
The new technical director was tasked with optimizing the technical organization of the development and testing work. Under his leadership, several specialized teams were formed for the areas of testing, chassis, engine, electronics and aerodynamics. These teams are mainly based in Munich, but will be in collaboration with the Berlin factory. BMW Motorrad Motorsport is currently developing the production of the BMW M1000RR.
Il Customer Racing, however, constitutes a fundamental pillar of BMW Motorrad's motorsport activities. Projects are developed for all customers around the world. Not only for those who ride on the road, but also for those who want to compete with products in the Supersport segment, at a professional, semi-professional or hobby level. Component planning, part production and delivery times will be increasingly optimized in the future.
