In the year in which we remember the centenary of BMW Motorrad, this example anticipates something new, a third two-wheeled M example that falls into the Turismo segment.
Learn more about the new BMW M1000 XR are expected in the second half of the year, as previously communicated.
Looking at the faired part, you immediately notice the presence of M winglets lateral, functional offshoots in supporting stability and grip, especially during acceleration and progression. The additional load on the front wheel counteracts the tendency to wheelie when pushing, which represents a benefit from a performance point of view. The same position on the saddle is oriented towards the front wheel, depending on the control.

Also noteworthy is a M braking system with radial brake master cylinder for optimal performance. Reminiscent of the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R models, in this case too we expect an M braking system developed thanks to the experience gained with the solutions used on competition motorbikes in the Superbike World Championship. The M brake calipers feature a blue anodized coating and M logo.
Moving on to the engine, it is quoted as a lightweight inline four-cylinder equipped with BMW ShiftCam technology. As a basis, the engine of the BMW S 1000 RR with BMW ShiftCam technology focused on timing variation. A power of 200 horses, compared to a DIN curb weight of 223 kg when fully loaded.
According to the indications, with an M Competition package, optional ex works, further weight reduction and greater dynamics are expected. The BMW M 1000 XR prototype can reach a top speed of around 280 km/h.
In the text combined with the video it is underlined, always keeping safety in mind, that the test was conducted by a professional driver on roads closed to normal traffic.
