BMW Motorrad: historic sales record in 2022

Reached by BMW Motorrad in 2022 the highest number of sales in its history. Delivering 202.895 motorbikes and scooters, an increase of + 4,4 % compared to the previous year.

Successful models

The boxer specimens BMW R 1250 GS e R 1250 GS Adventure were among the best-selling motorcycles in 2022. A combined total of around 60.000 units, providing a significant overall result to BMW Motorrad's great year.
Also highlighted are the sports models with four-cylinder engines like the S 1000 RR, which has strengthened its top position in the sports segment. In 2022, over 10.000 customers have chosen this example. Then considering the S 1000 R, S 1000 XR and the prized one M 1000RR, almost 25.000 units have been delivered worldwide.
Good results were also recorded from single-cylinder models G 310 R e G 310 GS with over 24.000 units released globally.
Finally, given the almost 5.000 units already sold in the year of launch, the interest achieved by the new electric scooter also stands out BMW EC 04.

The trend in Italy and on the international scene

According to UNRAE sources, 15.901 units of BMW Motorrad motorcycles and scooters were registered in the Bel Paese, maintaining its leadership among motorcycles over 500 cc. In this segment, a market share of 17,2% was achieved, which also increases to 25,1% if we take into account the range of motorcycles over 750 cc.
Among the examples, the BMW R 1250 GS remains at the top, with 4.062 units, the best-selling motorcycle in the market over 500 cc. In second position is the R 1250 GS Adventure, followed again by the S 1000 XR crossover, speaking of large-displacement models.
Also highlighted on the occasion were the results achieved by the new BMW CE 04 electric scooter, introduced on the market on 26 March. There were 583 examples registered in 2022.
However, Germany remains the largest single market for the Bavarian reality, in 2022, with 24.129 motorcycles and scooters sold. As highlighted by the record result of 21.223 units delivered in France, corresponding to an increase of 6,7% compared to the previous year.
The results in other regions of the world are also noteworthy, for example the data coming from the United States, Latin America and in particular Brazil are interesting with a record of 13.051 vehicles and an increase of 17% compared to the previous year, as well as those concerning the different Asian realities, in particular China and India.
