With two working days less and the fact that on Monday the 24th many dealers were closed for a long weekend, registrations of motorized two-wheeled vehicles in April totaled 21.494 vehicles, equal to -9,8% compared to the same month of 2016. The scooter sector with 11.574 units fell by -16,9%, while the motorcycles with 9.920 units confirmed last year's volumes +0,1%, maintaining a positive trend. The "fifties" also showed a slight decline, totaling 2.008 registrations, equal to -4,7%. April accounts for approximately 12% of annual sales in Italy.

In the first four months of 2017, the total of the Italian motorized two-wheeler market (registrations of scooters and motorbikes over 50cc, plus registrations of "fifties") reached 73.421 vehicles, with a slight decrease of -2,2% compared to the same period last year. This result derives from a stable trend for motorbikes with 30.989 vehicles and a +0,1%, a downward trend for scooters with 35.900 and a -3,7% and a similar trend for "fifties" with 6.532 registrations and a -3,9 ,XNUMX%.

The analysis by engine capacity sees the entry class of 125cc scooters maintaining leadership with 12.410 vehicles equal to -2,8%, very close are the 300-500cc ones with 12.223 sales equal to those of last year. The category between 150 and 250cc reaches 8.959 units equal to +2,5%; finally, maxi scooters over 500cc are in free fall, with 2.308 registrations and a -35,5%. In the motorcycle sector, vehicles between 800 and 1.000cc consolidated with 10.382 units and a +3,2%, those over 1000cc followed with 9.114 sales equal to a +1,7%. In third place are motorcycles between 650 and 750cc with 5.483 units and a +3,2% compared to 2016. Decline for the 300-600cc with 3.147 pieces and a -15,3%; marginal are the 150-250cc with 810 bikes and a -4,6%; finally the 125cc with 2.053 bikes are stable on 2016 volumes.

The trend of the segments sees the naked prevail with 11.083 units and a +10,4%, followed by the road enduros with a decline with 9.708 units equal to -11,9%. At a distance, touring motorbikes are growing with 5.004 registrations and a +13,1%; customs fell behind with 2.036 sales and -6,6%. Sports cars with 1.740 motorbikes are slightly recovering with a +2,6%; finally, a sharp decline for supermotards with 932 units and -16,9%.
