Honda RC213V-S, preview at EICMA 2014 for the Moto GP-derived Street Legal
It incorporates many features of the track version
Honda RC213V-S – The Honda RC213V-S prototype debuted this week at the Show EICMA in Milan. A racing motorbike with lights, mirrors, direction indicators and a license plate.
Rumors about a MotoGP-derived sports bike created by Honda have been circulating for several years and the project borrows the philosophy that guided the design of the Ducati Desmosedici RR. It was way back in 2007. While Ducati was inspired by the racing version to create a completely new bike, Honda retained many features of the original version. What differentiates the two bikes is that “S” ending of the name, which stands for Street Legal, to then follow the line traced by the RCV 1000R seen on the track. The Honda RC213V-S certainly has great power and pedigree performance, but perhaps, for some, it lacks that x-factor seen in the Kawasaki H2R, road homologation, also previewed at the seventy-second edition of the EICMA.
La structure of the Honda RC213V-S is completely similar to that of RCV 1000R, the MotoGP entered in the Open category. 238 hp, frame, swingarm, carbon fiber superstructures, exhausts, with the addition of the expansion hidden by the fairing, are all features taken from the original version. The tank is in a central position, the suspensions are Ohlins, while the braking system includes a pair of steel front discs instead of carbon. Therefore, apart from the license plate, lights and air intakes, we are essentially faced with the bike that competed in Moto GP this year.
