A double-digit increase in sales of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds was recorded in July. In percentage + 25,7 %, as reported through a press release proposed by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Motorcycle Cycle and Accessories), considering the same month last year.

The market

The number registered in the month, taking into account vehicles with a displacement greater than 50 cc, amounts to 36.824 specimens. July is the second month for sales after June this year, in light of an increase of 24,59%, compared to the same period last year. Motorcycles were highlighted with an increase of 31,11% (15.040 vehicles sold), then scooters with 21.751 units (+20,48% compared to July 2019). The performance of mopeds was also good (3.281 sales and +17,3%). The overall total of the market in the month of July is therefore up by 25,7%, given the 40.105 confirmed specimens.
In the first seven months of the year there was a certain recovery, considering the volume deficit linked to the health emergency of -14,63% and a total of 143.746 vehicles. Same trend as for motorcycles and scooters, respectively with a loss of 15,29%, corresponding to 63.027 vehicles sold and a decline of 14,10% with 80.587 vehicles. While for mopeds with 11.264 pieces sold the drop was 9,37%, still recovering from the data.

Displacements and segments

Based on the displacements, among the scooter 125 cc models stand out with 29.935 vehicles (-15,55%). In succession, scooters with a displacement between 300 and 500 cc with 29.379 units (-17,02%). Losses for vehicles between 150-250 cc were reduced with -11,76%, while the gap for maxi scooters over 500 cc has already been recovered, given a percentage of +0,8% and 7.918 vehicles registered.
Among motorcycle Displacements above 1.000 cc always stand out given the 15.395 sales (-15,35%). Moving on to the 800-1.000 cc engine sizes, the figure is –28,35% and 15.325 units. This is followed by motorbikes between 650-750 cc, with 11.943 vehicles and -0,58%. Then 300-600 cc with 11.608 vehicles and -11,4%, 125 cc with 7.137 vehicles and -13,11%. Finally, the 150-250 cc vehicles with 1.757 units and a percentage of +2,98%.
Considering i segments naked cars always stand out (24.613 vehicles and -13,83%), followed by road enduros (22.630 units and -13,96%), touring motorbikes (7.744 vehicles and -18,04%), custom (2.993 units and - 23,59%), sports (2.914 vehicles and -15,95%) and trial/supermotard (2.182 vehicles and -21,9%).
Finally, the positive trend continues electrical proposal in the first seven months with 4.700 sales (+67,9% compared to the same period of 2019).
