Motorcycle registrations are plummeting

Motorcycle sales halved. The numbers of two-wheeler registrations for the month of November speak for themselves: -43,7%. However, the reduction in sales volume must also be found in failure to renew state incentives which, last year, allowed the replacement of 9.000 motorcycles.

More specifically, 8.378 units were purchased. Those who suffered the greatest decline were the scooter (-47,3%) of which the best performance was recorded by 125 tsp. Confindustria Ancma (National Association of Motorcycles and Accessories) is shining a ray of light, according to which the month of November has a limited weight, around 4%, on the total registrations of the year. In fact, by examining the sales trend, we discover that the decrease compared to last year there was, although to a lesser extent: -17%. Corrado Capelli, president of the association, seeks the reasons for this negative trend in the current economic situation, in the fear of new taxes and in the simultaneous increase in used market.

But "then there are structural factors that continue to damage the correct development of the market and on which it is time to intervene”. The reference goes to insurance premiums. From liberalization to today – explains Capelli – “they increased by 353% compared to inflation of 50%. This situation, intolerable for all means of transport, specifically penalizes two-wheelers, with tariffs that in certain areas of Italy equal the cost of the cheapest vehicles".
