Yamaha WR250F and WR450F: many new competition derivatives for 2018

Yamaha WR250F and WR450F – Thanks to the experience gained in EnduroGP competitions, the Iwata company will launch two models on the market, the WR250F and the WR450F, revised and updated for 2018.

The concepts derive from what was learned in the Enduro championships.

The WR250F and WR450F share Yamaha's inverted cylinder head technology and are equipped with a straight intake duct for instant response. Both are equipped with electric starter without block, the radiators with enduro specifications are equipped with a cooling fan.

To ensure the best performance for enduro, the WR-Fs are equipped with: long-ratio transmission, easily accessible air filter, optimized clutch, O-ring sealed chain, 7,5 liter tank, side stand and plate paramotor. The front headlight and LED rear light are interesting.

There are many technical innovations compared to the "old" version. On the Yamaha WR250F, which features a 4-stroke DOHC inverted head engine with 4 titanium valves, the design of the cylinder head has been revised, with a reinterpretation of the intake and exhaust ducts; the camshafts and valve springs are also new. Inside the engine there are many changes, such as: lighter flat-head piston, a new shorter piston pin with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating, new connecting rod in chrome nickel steel. The control unit is also new, with new mappings for every "occasion". The chassis has also been revised, in fact, the WR250F features the same double-spar frame as the YZ250F.

The WR450F 2018 also has many technical innovations: the suspension has an optimized setting, while the engine has a new mapping of the electronic control unit. The overall weight of the motorcycle has been reduced. The new graphics and blue wheels complete the renovation.

WR250F and WR450F my 2018 will be available in Official Yamaha Dealers from October 2017.
