Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ 2023: a new example of technological dynamismYamaha Tracer 9 GT+ 2023: a new example of technological dynamism

Remembering the strengths of the Tracer overview, the new one Yamaha Tracer 9 GT + for the 2023 includes a series of solutions designed to support versatility and control. It highlights fully integrated cutting-edge technology that includes intelligent driving modes and electronic suspension, as well as connected TFT instruments and integrated Garmin navigation. Other interesting systems include millimeter-wave radar, adaptive cruise control (ACC) and a unified braking system (UBS).

The specialised farming model

Expected at Yamaha dealers starting from May 2023, the bike is offered in two distinctive liveries icon performance e Power Gray.
The frame is die-cast aluminum, made with Yamaha's exclusive CF die-cast (Controlled Filling) system. A solution that allows you to develop extremely light and resistant frames with different wall thicknesses, obtaining an optimized rigidity balance. The unsprung weight is kept to a minimum through the use of an aluminum swingarm and SpinForged wheels, also made with exclusive Yamaha technology.
Le suspensions are semi active electronically controlled “KADS” (KYB Actimatic Damper System) integrated, a new generation system configured in collaboration with KYB and designed to offer dynamic performance without forgetting comfort.
The integrated suspension system is operated by 6-axis IMU solution which picks up various sensors and automatically adjusts the damping forces through the hydraulic unit (HU) and the suspension control unit (SCU). The system can be placed in Sport or Comfort mode and can adapt to various driving styles.
We also note a D-Mode system referring to engine maps which is now fully integrated with the motorcycle's 6-axis IMU system and with a series of rider assistance systems. A new system that is more intuitive and simple to use, according to information. You can choose between four integrated driving modes: "Sports",“Street”,“Rain” o "Custom", protagonists together with D mode, wheelie control, skid control, traction control and electronic suspension hydraulic braking.

The “Sport”, “Street” and “Rain” programs feature settings with various levels of intervention and were developed by Yamaha designers based on feedback from test riders. “Custom” allows you to manually select your own intervention settings and keep them in memory.
The new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ is equipped with an 3cc EU890 CP5 engine that offers plenty of linear torque and features an Acceleration Position Sensor (APSG) and Yamaha Chip Controlled-Throttle (YCC-T).
Furthermore, a new 3rd generation electronic shifting system is highlighted even when theACC is active. An electronic gearbox that offers a wide range of functions, being able to downshift without using the clutch. The 3rd generation electronic shifting system it will not act in certain situations, when engine speeds are extremely low or high and also when the motorcycle is neither accelerating nor decelerating. In these cases, the electronic gear shift system icon will indicate whether or not it is possible to use the system and once the speed or rpm is changed the system will return to action, based on the indications.

Technical and technological solutions

Interesting features include: redesigned windshield mounts, a bracket for the instrument cluster, a USB A socket, along with a new rear brake pedal lever that adapts to the new unified braking system.
For high comfort, the motorcycle is equipped with a large plexiglass adjustable to 10 positions and heated grips adjustable to 10 levels. Yamaha also offers a comfortable heated seat as an original accessory with 10 temperature levels.
The lighting is LED with adaptive headlights and, when traveling at 5 km/h or faster and the inclination angle exceeds 7°, the adaptive headlights automatically illuminate the inside of the bend with a low or high.
The new instrumentation on a 7 inch color TFT display It has three screen themes and in each one the ACC is located so as to allow the driver to see the distance set and the speed chosen.
Among the prominent solutions is the presentation of a millimeter wave radar which detects the distance of the vehicle immediately in front of the motorbike and weighs only 200 g, placed behind the front fairing. A functional unit precisely for the aforementioned adaptive cruise control (ACC) and the unified braking system with radar connection.
This is the brand's first motorcycle equipped with an adaptive speed control system (ACC), a cutting-edge solution that offers the advantages of cruise control and the opportunity to automatically maintain a distance from the vehicle in front.
ACC is adjustable by choosing from one of four following distance options. When the system detects that the motorbike is too close to the vehicle in front or if it senses that the movement could cause the motorbike to get too close, an intervention request icon stands out on the display to warn the motorcyclist that it is necessary to intervene.

ACC operates between 30 km/h and 160 km/h: in first and second gear from 30 km/h, in third and fourth from 40 km/h and in fifth and sixth from 50 km/h. The speed can be increased or reduced by 1 km/h or 10 km/h by operating the adjustment switch, as indicated. ACC is deactivated if you brake or pull the clutch lever for more than one second or if you turn the accelerator knob forward to the limit of travel.
ACC also features a cornering assist function that prevents speed increases and, if the radar detects a vehicle ahead, also contains the acceleration level.
In the radar-linked unified braking system there are three main elements that act only when BC (Brake Control) is activated. The system constantly analyzes the safety distance data it receives from millimeter wave radar. If the system indicates that the braking action is not enough to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front of the motorcycle, it increases the brake pressure on the front and rear wheels to support slowing down.
The ACC system will automatically brake the Tracer 9 GT+ when a pre-selected safe distance is reached, but when the brakes are applied, ACC is deactivated. At that point the radar-linked unified braking system intervenes if it determines that the braking action is not sufficient to prevent a collision, as indicated.
There is also smartphone connectivity via a Communication Control Unit, using Yamaha's MyRide app. A series of menus and functions can be accessed by operating the new ergonomic controls and when the motorbike is not moving, various information is displayed, from weather forecasts to notifications, as indicated. Garmin full-screen navigation can also be installed by downloading the Garmin Motorize app (requires a subscription support contract, as noted).
The new electric blocks include a joystick and a Home button, these allow the motorcyclist to use the various functions already mentioned. An ergonomic layout that allows for smooth thumb movement and the groups are backlit for ease of use in low light conditions. There is also a height-adjustable saddle equipped with new padding and a redefined shape to support comfort.
