Introduced on the track of Vallelunga il MotoE World Championship 2023, the championship in which electric motorbikes are the protagonists. Ducati is the sole supplier with the prototype “V21L”. The presentation of the fifth edition of the series, for the first time with worldwide ownership, took place in the presence of Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati; by Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO Dorna Sports and representatives of the main partners of the event.

The series

the prototype Ducati “V21L” it is an electric example where electronic technologies and cycling quotas defined by converge Ducati Corse, fused with a design process and project management similar to that of a sporty street motorcycle. The result of a convergence of the best skills in motorsport and production, a prototype with which Ducati approaches a new development landscape.

The Ducati example is characterized by a total weight of 225 kg, a figure of 12 kg compared to the minimum requirements imposed by Dorna and FIM for a motorcycle capable of covering the race distance with a power of 110 kW corresponding to 150 horses and a pair of 140 Nm. A speed of 275 km/h was reached on the Mugello track.

I 18 riders protagonists, working with 9 teams, will compete aboard this "V21L" prototype developed by Ducati along a development path that lasted just over a year during which the test riders Michele Pirro, Chaz Davies and Alex De Angelis worked, who he carried out some demonstration laps in Vallelunga.

This project was born with the aim of developing skills for its future, preserving Ducati's typical approach in evaluating technological solutions for competitions and working so that these developments can be introduced on future motorcycles ridden by enthusiasts.

After the first official tests in Jerez at the beginning of March, the World Championship riders will return to the track in Barcelona in the next few days 3, 4 e 5th April and 13st May will begin the season with the French Grand Prix on the Le Mans circuit. Other stages are scheduled in the calendar at Mugello 10nd June, at the Sachsenring on 17nd June, in Assen on 24nd June and, after the summer break, at Silverstone on August 5th, at the Red Bull Ring on August 19th, then onto the Catalunya route September 2th and finally on the Misano circuit September 9th.

Expected two free practice sessions on Friday morning and others two qualifying sessions in the afternoon. There is a new format for qualifying and the teams will have a completely new structure for the paddock.
Le two races they will be carried out on Saturday, the first after the MotoGP qualifying and the second after the Sprint Race, another new feature of the 2023 season.
