Piaggio growing in the first half of 2012

The Piaggio Group records in first half of the year a growth of shares in the most important segments of the Italian two-wheeler market, in which he confirms his leadership by achieving a overall share equal to 30,3%, for an increase of 3,2 percentage points compared to the first half of 2011. Based on the data released today by Confindustria Ancma, in the month of June the Piaggio Group recorded in particular a excellent performance in the scooter sector, also thanks to the effect of the first registrations of the Liberty scooters that Piaggio supplies to Poste Italiane.

The performance of the Piaggio Group in terms of market shares is also positive outside of Italy.

At a European level, Italy excluded, in the first five months of 2012 (the data relating to the January-June period will be available during the current month, due to the different reporting times by the Manufacturers' Associations of the various European markets), the the Group's continental share increases by 0,8 percentage points in the scooter sector compared to the period January-May 2011, attesting to 24,6% of the sector. Also including the Italian market in the calculation, the Group's continental share is stable at 26,7%.

The Group's continental share in the segment remained stable at 2,3%. bikes over 750cc, thanks to the performances of the new models launched by Moto Guzzi e Aprilia in the large displacement motorcycle sector.

Market shares growing in the period January-May 2012 also on the US market. In the United States, the Group in the first five months of the year grows by 3,1 percentage points in the registered scooter compared to the period January-May 2011, reaching 35,9% share and establishing itself as US market leader in this sector.
