Metzeler Roadtec 01 – Metzeler Roadtec 01 is the latest evolution of Metzeler touring tyres, with a focus on improving grip on low-friction and wet surfaces, increased mileage and a high degree of adaptability to different bikes, riding styles and conditions.

Metzeler Roadtec 01 is able to guarantee excellent adaptability to a wide range of asphalts, weather conditions and temperatures, this means the driver's confidence especially in support, braking and acceleration, driving conditions of urban environments but also found on extra-urban roads and motorways. The tread design of the Metzeler Roadtec 01 features a high number of grooves developed transversally with respect to the direction of rotation, with the benefit of an increase in the mechanical grip of the compound on the ground. The advantage of the transverse grooves is evident in many different conditions: from riding in cold, damp weather on lighter motorcycles, to longer motorway trips during the summer on large touring bikes. The overall tread design also ensures a higher water drainage ratio.

Metzeler Roadtec 01 has a higher mileage than its predecessor, the Metzeler Roadtec 08 M/O), achieved thanks to the profile, compounds and structural elements. On the rear sizes the shorter and larger contact areas are in synergy with the patented Metzeler Interact technology to reduce the rubbing effect that occurs on the surface of the tire when the compound slides away from under the contact surface (brush effect), for ensuring a shorter contact patch means that each point of the tread remains in contact with the ground for a shorter distance with each rotation of the tire and ultimately helps to spread the stress caused by frictional force and weight of the motorcycle on the upper surface of the tire tire. An important contribution to achieving the expected mileage is given by the layout of the compound which features a central stripe on the rear measurements with a specific mix of silica and carbon black.

The performance of the Metzeler Roadtec 01 meets various peculiarities of the touring world as some of the motorbikes that can benefit from it are very particular in terms of construction (despite using standard sizes) and therefore require a special version of the tyre.
