Ducati: we're talking about electric again, the arrival? Only under certain conditionsDucati: we're talking about electric again, the arrival? Only under certain conditions

We addressed the topic a few weeks ago after the words of the CEO, Claudio Domenicali, regarding the possibility of seeing one in the near future Electric red. On that occasion the CEO had opened the way to this possibility without indicating either the timing or the 'modalities'.

He's back on the topic now Ducati Innovation Manager Pierluigi Zampieri, who interviewed by the English site MCN, opened up to the possibility of an electric motorbike under some conditions: “We develop our known ones with the aim of being the best on the track, but with electric ones the difficulty increases, given the need to find the right compromise between weight, performance and autonomy. We are a cutting-edge company and we want to arrive on the market with a state-of-the-art product, better than those offered by our competitors. Since I was a kid, I have always been a great motor enthusiast, but today's young people are not exactly like that: in the last 5 or 10 years everything has changed, there is electrification, digitalisation, the sharing economy. The Internet has changed everything and this makes everything even more difficult.”

The other problem in addition to the technical one is certainly the one that concerns the most loyal customers, in fact, how Innovation Manager, says: “Would our customers appreciate an electric motorcycle? Is it the right time? The big question is: will they want it tomorrow, the day after or the day after that? One day Ducati customers will ask for an electric Ducati, the hard part is knowing when. We know how much it takes to develop a good motorcycle, we are already making some drawings. The problem is: when will we release it? The challenge will be to keep the passion high, we cannot take it for granted.”

Ducati but first think about the current challenges: “We are still developing our bikes with the aim of being the best on the track.”
