Weight/power ratio of 1,54 HP/kg with racing kit

A summary table dedicated to the characteristics of the new prestigious creation of the Borgo Panigale company

Limited and numbered series 500 specimens, composite material structure and a powerful engine. An alchemy exalted with racing kits which makes the Ducati Superleggera V4 an exclusive and special sports car.

The specialised farming model

An outline of the different characteristics has already been drawn in a previous article article. On this occasion, other interesting aspects are highlighted on the new creation of the specialists of the Emilian brand, which have given shape to a suggestive vision of sportsmanship according to Ducati. An interesting aspect in itself is the use of carbon fiber for the frame, swingarm and wheels. The only two-wheeled example of this type approved for road use in the world. The use of components developed with other light alloys such as titanium and magnesium is also valuable. Elements that contribute to the weight reduction of 6.7 kg, according to the indications, just as the powerful propulsive heart is less heavy.
It turns out Desmosedici Stradale R “more powerful and lighter” as reported, i.e. an engine V4 di 90° from 998 cc 2,8 kg lighter, when compared to the value of a 4 cc V1.103. Together with the approved exhaust system Akrapovič offers 224 horses, while adopting that track use always Akrapovich in titanium, included in the Racing Kit offered with the motorbike, the figure rises to 234 horses. In light of a dry weight of 159 kg, i.e. 16 kg less than a Panigale V4, the power/weight ratio is basic 1,41 HP/kg. An already notable result considering an approved model, but with the racing kit the 234 horsepower and a lighter weight of just 152,2 kg, the ratio becomes 1,54 HP/kg, as indicated again regarding the model. Another interesting fact. This combined with the chassis, the electronic part and the aerodynamic configuration made up of biplane appendages which recall the setup used on the 2016 Ducati MotoGP, providing a vertical load of 50 kg a 270 km/h (20 kg more compared to the solution adopted on the new Panigale V4 and the Panigale V4 R), contributes to top performance.
Going back to the information again, the official tester Alexander Valia, on a model equipped with racing kit and slick tyres, completed a lap on the Mugello track in 1'52 "45. Less than two seconds from what Michele Pirro signed on the Panigale V4 R SBK in CIV 2019.
