Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak: a new example of sportiness [VIDEO]

Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is the novelty introduced in the third episode of the web series Ducati World Premiere 2022 and his sporting strength emerges in a film proposed by Ducati on Youtube.

Features

The appearance is reminiscent of the Multistrada V4, but presents connotative aspects starting from the “Pikes Peak” livery, which recalls the look of the Desmosedici GP '21 with number plates designed on both sides of the tank. Also included: a single sided swingarm and 17 inch front wheel.
Linked to the Multistrada V4, keeping in mind the V4 Granturismo concept and engine, this model can also be distinguished by a series of interventions relating to the chassis, electronic controls and ergonomics. Specific components stand out which underline its sportiness. Several carbon fiber parts and an Akrapovič approved silencer in titanium and carbon are highlighted. The aesthetic vision also includes: the gold-colored anodization of the Öhlins fork sliders, the low smoked plexiglass, the Ducati Corse shield visible in front, the two-tone black and red rear saddle with the V4 logo. Furthermore, by consulting the Ducati Performance catalogue, various accessories are available.

Technical aspects

We indicate interventions that concern the chassis part, defined around the aforementioned 17-inch front wheel. The frame is an aluminum monocoque, revised to obtain a different inclination of the steering head 25,75°, compared to the 24,5° of the Multistrada V4, as well as recalibrated trail and wheelbase cycling quotas.
The same ergonomics is functional for the control and optimization of lean angles, given a different riding position compared to the Multistrada V4, in light of a lower, narrower handlebar with a less marked curvature, as well as more raised footpegs and retreat.
There are also Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspensions, for the first time on a Multistrada model, to support performance with an "event based" system similar to that of the models Ducati Panigale V4S e Streetfighter V4 S.
The braking system, derived from that of the Ducati Panigale V4, includes a front disc layout 330 mm and Brembo Stylema® monobloc calipers, to which Panigale V4 pads are added. Behind is a single disc from 265 mm, flanked by a Brembo floating caliper.
The model also features 120/70 and 190/55-17 sports road tires wearing Marchesini forged aluminum rims, 2,7 kg lighter than those of the Multistrada V4 S. The total weight of the model is 4 kg lighter. kg, in comparison.
The innovations underline a marked sporting nature, considering in particular the introduction of the Race Riding Mode and the Ducati Wheelie Control equipped with an updated strategy for superior response and more precise control. ABS Cornering is also configured for performance.
It features a dashboard TFT with a screen from 6,5 inches. It is possible to consult a map navigator thanks to Ducati Connect and mirroring with the mobile device. Also highlighted is a sophisticated electronic package with front and rear radar technology with functions linked to Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).

Motor

The engine of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is the V4 Granturismo, as mentioned. The power reaches altitude 170 horses at 10.500 rpm, while the torque peak is 125 Nm at 8.750 rpm.
The unit is optimized according to the characteristics of the motorbike and presents some new features, in particular the inclusion of the Riding Mode for the first time on a Multistrada Race, developed for the specimen. A Race map added to a more racing strategy for the limiter, which comes in gradually compared to the Multistrada V4, alerting the rider well in advance to encourage sporty driving. The quickshifter also has a specific strategy that allows for sharp downshifts, as well as the implementation of a more direct knob-throttle relationship in Power Mode High, as reported.
