Ducati was an exceptional partner of the first Design course organized by Malpighi La.B, the IT, Robotics and Automation, Design and 3D Planning laboratory dedicated to high school students in Bologna. The Malpighi High School was supported by the Design Center of the motorcycle manufacturer, the place where the "Rosse di Borgo Panigale" were born.

Born within a framework agreement between Liceo Malpighi and Ducati, already in collaboration for years for the Fisica in Moto laboratory, the Design course of the Malpighi La.B, followed by around 30 students of the 3rd, 4th and 5th year, took place from November 2016 to May 2017, for a total of approximately 40 extra-curricular hours. The students who chose to participate tried their hand at Product Design, Interior Design and Transportation Design projects, all very current topics for Ducati. They designed and created, for example, a small, remotely controlled terrestrial drone with a design evocative of the typical characters of the Ducati brand. They developed proposals for a new exhibition stand for the Bolognese company and for a restyling of the Ducati Style Center (from the workstations to the general concept of the spaces). Finally, they have rethought the handlebar - controls - dashboard area of some motorcycles, both in functional and style terms.

The Design lessons were held by the professor and architect Lorenzo Raggi, head of Malpighi La.B and by Jeremy Faraud and Vincenzo Laino, respectively designer and head of VR (virtual reality) within the Borgo Panigale Style Centre. After an initial phase of theoretical lessons in the classroom, the students of Malpighi La.B also carried out some workshops in Ducati to better understand the process of creating the motorcycle within the Design Center, a process that goes from the initial sketches to the final model .
