Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition: how it's made
The Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is a concentration of technology and performance. The Superquadro engine, Euro 4 approved, derives from that of the 1299 Superleggera and is capable of delivering a power of 209 HP at 11.000 rpm, using a lightened crankshaft with a larger connecting rod pin equipped with tungsten balancing pads and connecting rods , like the intake and exhaust valves, are made of titanium. The two pistons, 116 mm in diameter, have only two segments like on Superbike engines and slide on steel cylinder liners. The monocoque structure of the frame, developed together with the Racing Department, makes the bike compact.
The airbox is integrated and this allows the overall weight of the bike to be kept low, which stands at just 179 kg dry. The suspensions are Ohlins and have a steering head angle of 24°. The Akrapovic exhaust system is made entirely of titanium, with a double high silencer (Euro 4 approved) and has the same layout as the Panigale R that we admired during the last Superbike World Championship. The electronics use the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and are equipped with ABS Cornering, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO and Engine Brake Control (EBC) system. These systems have pre-set setups linked to the selected Riding Mode (Race, Sport and Wet), but can be modified and customized as desired.
