Maximum power of 31 kW or reduced from 23 kW

BMW EC 04 represents the mass translation of a concept of electric mobility, mentioned with the futuristic ones BMW Motorrad Concept Link (shown in 2017) e BMW Motorrad Definition CE 04 (unveiled in 2020). A scooter with a futuristic and distinctive aesthetic, a stretched out position with a low center of gravity and a seat that favors an upright position, equipped with connectivity solutions to interact dynamically in the urban environment and beyond.

Design

The style is distinctive, sculpted, tense and offers a different idea of mobility on two wheels. A technological aspect where refined solutions and components stand out. The finish is also highlighted Light white which are associated with opaque black sections in the front and lateral areas, as well as a distinctive "floating" saddle.
With the Avantgarde style (optional ex works) a lively alternative is offered, noting a color Magellan Grey metallic which is associated with a black/orange saddle, an orange deflector and various graphics.
The electric scooter also has solid wheels and the side stand itself is integrated into the overall vision. The side and front storage compartments are also highlighted, with a side compartment for the helmet operated when seated and the ventilated cell phone charging compartment with USB-C output.

Technology

The frame is made up of a tubular steel structure. At the front there is a telescopic fork with a diameter of 35 mm, while at the back there is a swing arm on one side only. The rear suspension part consists of a directly controlled and covered spring structure axle. The braking system consists of a double disc brake at the front and an additional single disc at the rear. Also mentioned is a latest generation ABS Pro system, available as an option, acting via a banking sensor to control braking even when cornering.
The scooter is equipped with front tyres 120 / 70 R15 67H and posterior from 160 / 60 R15 56H.

Technology and solutions

The scooter BMW EC 04 It is equipped with headlights All-round LED with a front headlight for high beam and one for low beam, the rear light and indicators are also LED. A further solution is the Headlight Pro adaptive cornering light, offered as an ex works option. A system that illuminates the road when cornering during the night and special light functions such as "Welcome" and "Good Bye" are indicated, again as optional ex works.
The instrumentation is displayed on a large color screen TFT da 10,25 inches with integrated map navigation and connectivity solutions. On the screen it is possible to view a map in the instrument panel for the first time, so an additional support screen is not necessary.
Three driving modes are also listed: "ECO", “Rain” e “Road”; with an optional mode “Dynamic” to intensify the driving sensations. The programs maximize efficiency or driving pleasure based on what is requested by the user and the aforementioned "Dynamic" mode, offered as an optional ex works, allows for even more lively driving.
The stability of the vehicle is supported by slip control through the ASC (Automatic Stability Control), while a DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) is optional.
The traction control system is therefore comparable to the Automatic Stability Control of models with a thermal drive unit. ASC contains engine torque based on rear wheel slip. The Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) on the other hand, as an optional ex works, offers additional safety by allowing safe acceleration in the banking position, as indicated.

Propulsion and power

The motor is electric with permanent magnets and liquid cooled, placed in the frame between the battery and the rear wheel, taking up what happens on cars such as the BMW 225xe Active Tourer.
The nominal power is: 15 kW (20 horsepower) and the maximum reaches 31 kW (42 horsepower) and to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h, it takes 2,6 seconds. For the low power class L3e-A1 a power of is proposed 11 kW (15 horsepower) or 23 kW (31 horsepower). In any case, the maximum speed amounts to 120 km/h, making it possible to go even outside the city.
Moving on to the lithium ion battery is from 60,6 Ah (8,9 kWh) and according to the indications the autonomy is approximately 130 kilometers. In the case of a reduced power version the figure reaches 100 km.
The battery is recharged via an integrated device, using both normal domestic sockets, but also wallboxes or public charging stations. If the battery is completely discharged, the charging time is approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes. Through the rapid charger offered as an optional with a power of up to 6,9 kW, considering a standard level it results in 2,3 kW, the charging time is limited to just 1 hour and 40 minutes in the case of a completely discharged battery, according to the indications. Instead, with a level of 20 percent, to reach 80 percent the charging time amounts to 45 minutes through an optional fast charger, always considering the information. Based on the target market, the standard 2,3 kW charging cable is supplied as standard.
A charging cable Mode 3 it is useful for fast charging in the wallbox at home or in a public charging station. Also in this case, BMW Charging solutions are available with numerous customized programs for charging in different situations.
