Bearing in mind a growth in Italian bicycle market, with at least +20% compared to 2019 and over 2 million pieces sold according to the first estimates indicated, companies in the sector must deal with the global difficulties linked to the pandemic and the months of stops in the production of parts and components in China and in the entire Far East, as reported.
In a statement released by Confindustria ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) the situation is highlighted and “the commitment that the sector is putting into satisfying the growing demand for bicycles, despite the difficulties”.

The bicycle sector in Italy

A situation affecting an understanding system around 250 companies, mainly SMEs, which in Italy represent employment for more than 12.000 direct and indirect employees, as reported.
“In the short term – reports the association – this can have repercussions on the sales network with possible slowdowns in deliveries, but it is clear that what is happening opens up new challenges and prospects for the development of component production directly on national soil, where know-how and capacity are concentrated". Perspective which, considering what is indicated by ANCMA, requires a “subsidiary support from the Government with a decisive intervention on the cost of labor and with support for investments in a sector which is undergoing further growth and which can further create employment and value for the country system”.
The press release then highlights the importance that "the market and institutions should know the complexity of the external factors that the pedal-powered two-wheeler industry is facing, precisely at a time of great expansion in demand and interest in the bicycle".
