Electric scooters: can circulate on cycle paths or bicycle paths outside residential areas

In the legislative decree extending the deadlines, during the examination in the House Constitutional Affairs and Budget Committees, introduced a standard which clarifies the methods of circulation on electric scooters which, outside of residential areas, can only circulate on cycle paths or sections reserved for bicycles.

The news was reported on the portal of Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility. What has been established regarding the circulation of electric scooters in the city remains unchanged; they can circulate in pedestrian areas, on pedestrian and cycle paths, on cycle paths and lanes, where bicycles can circulate and on roads with a speed limit of no more than 50 km/h. .
Extended by two months, from July 30st to September 2022th XNUMX, the deadline within which electric scooters marketed in Italy must have arrows and braking indicator lights on both wheels. For scooters already used by that date, the obligation remains to adapt by 2024st January XNUMX, as reported.
Returning to the circulation of electric scooters outside residential areas, previously the possibility of using these vehicles was foreseen wherever the circulation of bicycles was permitted and, therefore, also on extra-urban roads. With the introduced rule, however, it was clarified that outside the centers it is possible to circulate exclusively on cycle paths or routes reserved for bicycles.
