Dainese – Dainese returns to EICMA after 5 years with important innovations in the world of protection, presenting the new collection of D-air jackets for road use and the new family of certified Pro-Armor protectors.

The new Misano D-air Cyclone D-air and Continental D-air jackets, dedicated respectively to the sport, sport-touring and urban segments, integrate the new D-air airbag system in the stand-alone configuration, which does not require any kit sensors to be installed on the vehicle, finally making maximum protection available for every type of road use. The 3D airbag bag, the true heart of the system, the result of proprietary Dainese technology, thanks to its internal microfilament structure, allows controlled inflation along the entire surface and, developing around the body and shape of the rider, guarantees at the same time maximum protection and maximum comfort. The construction of the bag, protected by patents, is unique and differs from any other bag used in the automotive industry. The pioneering airbag system from Dainese has been further perfected, increasing the areas covered by the bag: neck, collarbones, shoulders, chest and back. The electronic platform and the algorithm, the brain and true intelligence of the system, have also been further improved: through the analysis of the data transmitted by the 6 sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes) and the GPS installed in the back protector, the system monitors 1000 times per second the dynamics of the motorcyclist and decides the activation of the system in the presence of impacts, slips with or without rolling and unseating.

The usability of the system has been improved with a new LED interface located on the forearm to indicate the operating status. The new battery guarantees over 24 hours of continuous active use of the system, tripling the duration of the previous one, with a charging time reduced to 4 hours. The future of protection is in the air and the data collected by Dainese proves it. More than 1200 activations documented and analyzed by the development team of the Dainese Science and Research Center on circuits and roads all over the world over more than 1.000.000 kilometers (of which more than half during the test phases) confirm its effectiveness and reliability and, thanks to the amount of data acquired, contribute to the continuous evolution of the activation algorithms of the technological platform. 16 years of continuous research which have produced 35 registered patents regarding the construction of the bag, the activation algorithm and the architecture of the electronic platform, as well as the integration between airbag and protective garment. The new jackets use the latest generation Pro-Armor back protector, the location where the electronic platform (sensors, GPS and battery) of the D-air airbag system is housed, offering unprecedented standards of comfort.

The result of proprietary Dainese technology, the Pro-Armor family of protectors, made up of protectors for shoulders, elbows, back, chest, lumbar area, hips and knees, uses an innovative design inspired by fractals, the language that nature uses to create complex structures. The fractal structure enhances the characteristics of the carbon-based elastomer which constitutes the protective element of the system, thus allowing it to absorb up to 83% of the force that hits the safety device. This design, which allows for an extensive perforated surface (43% in the case of the back protector), works in perfect harmony with the variable thickness of the protector, simultaneously guaranteeing extreme freedom of movement, lightness and comfort, as well as an unparalleled level of breathability.

AGV, the historic Italian brand, has focused on the process of complete re-engineering of the interior and on the extension of this system from the Pista GP R to the new helmets in the range. The Corsa R, Veloce S, K-5 S and Compact ST models have thus seen a complete redesign of the internal components of the helmet, focused on improving comfort and soundproofing. The new AGV helmet models will be available from December 2016 starting from €729,95 for the Corsa R, 499,95 for the Veloce S, €349,95 for the K-5 S and €269,95 for the Compact ST . The Pro-Armor family of protectors will be available from January 2017 at the price of €29,95 for the limb protectors, €39,95 for the chest protector, €49,95 for the lumbar protector, €69,95 for the back protector pocket and €129,95 for the backprotector. The new stand-alone D-air jackets will be available starting from April 2017 at the price of €1.599 for the Misano D-air sports version, €1.799 for the Cyclone D-air sport-touring garment and €1.499 for the Continental D urban version -air.
