Dainese wins the “Compasso d'Oro International Award 2017”
The Italian company won the award thanks to the Pro-Armor system
Dainese – Last December 1st ADI, Association for Industrial Design, awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro To the system Pro Armor, for the quality of the technical-stylistic solutions and the structure inspired by the fractal geometry of the family of protectors that Dainese has developed for the safety of the back, elbows and knees.
In the 2017 edition of the Award entitled Sport – Performance and Innovation, a commission of experts, designers, critics and specialized journalists awarded designer Fanny Boria and Cristiano Silei, CEO of Dainese Group, the Compasso d'Oro which, since 1954, has rewarded the excellence of design products by evaluating the technological value and of research.The motivations expressed by the Jury focus on the concepts of quality and innovation represented by Pro-Armor: "Ideas that can save elbows, knees, backs and therefore lives, thanks to attention to the safety of people, especially motorcyclists. The Pro-Armor protection system is characterized by a technical and expressive design inspired by fractal geometry. The variable-design reticular structure distributes flexibility or rigidity where needed, keeping the inserts light and breathable. A meticulous design for 'invisible' objects, because they are hidden inside sports clothing. The quality of the solution, beyond the typical stylistic expression of sports language, makes us imagine the possibility of expanding its functional and expressive use to other sports equipment".
Dainese also appears among the "Honourable Mentions" of the award ceremony with the Mugello R D-Air airbag suit and the AGV Pista GP R helmet. Cristiano Silei, CEO of Dainese Group, underlines the link between design, research and safety: “We thank ADI for an award that is a source of pride for the entire Group. An acknowledgment that goes first and foremost to the work of our designers and the Dainese and AGV research and development teams. A confirmation of the quality of our products, which blend together research, technology and elegance typical of the Italian tradition. Also a recognition of the founding role of design within that complex system that we call safety and which has always been the mission at the center of our work".
The Compasso d'Oro International Award 2017 adds to other important official recognitions obtained by Pro-Armor Dainese, such as the Red Dot Award and the Good Design Award 2017, the most prestigious sector award in Japan and one of the largest internationally.
