Zero Motorcycle 2014, here is the new range

Will the sound of mobility be silence? It's an oxymoron that is probably well known to people Zero Motorcycle, world leader in the non-combustion engine motorcycle industry. The American company based in Santa Cruz presents the 2014 range of its models, dividing it into "three core models", three families: Zero S, Zero DS, Zero FX and the new Zero SR, the most performing, with 24% more power and 56% more torque than the rest of the range. They all enjoy the advantages that an electric vehicle has, such as the elimination of maintenance, instant torque and a relaxing drive. Furthermore, the cost of fuel is, to use a very Yankee phrase, “only a penny a mile”, a penny per mile travelled.

For all models, an innovative design contains the “Z-Force Powertrain” consisting of an electric motor and battery pack. The propulsion group is made up of a brushless electric motor, very simple, efficient and equipped with air cooling; the transmission of torque to the rear wheel occurs by means of a toothed belt. The power varies depending on the model: they range from 27 HP of the ZERO FX to 67 HP of the ZERO SR. The battery pack is called Z-Force Power Pack and is made up of advanced AI batteries Lithium ions, equipped with an advanced self-diagnosis system; the batteries can travel at maximum performance, for example over 300.000 km before dropping to 80% of capacity. Thanks to Z-Force Power Tank it is possible (for all 2014 models) to add 2.8 kWh of energy, thus bringing the total autonomy to 170 km at a speed of 88 km/h, 140 km at an average of 112 km/h, and even up to 270 km if engaged only in urban traffic.

For 2014 Zero Motorcycle has revised its bikes also from the point of view of components and design. The suspension has been updated with stronger 43 mm forks at the front and a completely reworked rear shock absorber. In front of the pilot, a new dashboard with cool-blue backlit LCD screen, displays statistics and information on the entire bike, including the operating status - the mapping in a combustion engine - Eco, Sport or Custom, selectable via a handlebar control. It will make hi-tech victims happy, the Zero Motorcycle app, from which it is possible to vary the performance, depending on whether you want more "sprint" or more economical driving, work on the regenerative braking parameters, acceleration, maximum speed and much more.

Prices range from 9.780 euros for the Zero FX (Power Pack ZF2.8) to 16.990 euros for the Zero SR, the most performing. It is obvious that this type of motorcycle is subject to any government incentives. 2 year warranty with, in addition, the guarantee of 5 years/100.000 miles on battery pack of Zero S and DS, which become 5 years/50.000 miles on FX model.
