Yamaha YZF-R125 my 2014: small but wants to become big

Revised in look and refined in technique, to be an R-Series

It was already competitive, captivating and with a racing look, and the inspiration from the more "grown-up" models was clear. For the Yamaha YZF-R125 my 2014, there was no need for a completely new project, nor for a simple tweak. Whoever put their hands on the little R125 wanted to increase its racing spirit, making this little eighth of a liter fashionable in look and refined in technique, to bring a driving experience onto the road that is even closer to that of the larger displacement R-Series.

At first glance, thefront end has become much more specialized. Now the fork is a 41 mm upside down stanchion with racing plates; more stability, more rigidity and therefore a greater feeling with the front wheel. Furthermore, the rims are new with Y-spoke design and are fitted with 100/80-17 and 130/70-17 tires at the rear. The brakes now have more bite: in front there is a radial attachment caliper with 292 mm floating disc, resulting in more powerful and modulable braking.

The new fairings link the R125 my 2014 to the family feeling of the other Yamaha "Rs". Dynamism and aggressiveness, but not only that, aerodynamics also benefit from it. An intervention which, combined with the new calibration of the electronic injection, is a bonus lower consumption (-11%) and same performance. At the rear, a tail that is more "shot" upwards betrays the work done by the technicians who, in practice, redesigned the rear suspension linkages to increase driving comfort.

The dynamic look of the motorbike is also strengthened by the new carbon look style front mudguard, by the new rear light under which the shorter and more compact license plate holder stands out. Rear brake and gearbox have now new forged aluminum levers. Once in the saddle it is also easy to identify the new instrumentation.

It has been completely redesigned and is equipped with a Backlit multifunction LCD. In the center there is a display showing the digital speedometer and the bar rev counter, on the left the multi-function display, easily navigable, offers information on engine temperature, data on maximum speed, average speed and fuel consumption. Through the right display, however, the pilot will receive information on the fuel level and indication of the reserve, the trip odometer, theremaining kilometer indicator and the time thanks to a digital clock.

The new YZF-R125 will be available in colors from the end of April Matt Grey, Anodized Red and Race Blue, at the price of Euro 4.490 fc VAT included.
