Accompanying them during the Milan event was the new MT-09 Tracer

Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M – One of the protagonists of EICMA 2014, one of the most awaited events by two-wheel enthusiasts, which will close its doors tomorrow after six days of great events, was the Yamaha YZF-R1, accompanied by its high-end variant, the YZF -R1M, which motorionline.com encountered very closely at the stand of the Diapason manufacturer.

Both super sports cars have a dry weight of just 199 kg thanks to lightweight components, like the magnesium rims and the aluminum tank, and both versions are powered by a new 998cc four-cylinder engine, with a cross shaft, capable of dispensing 200 CV. Among the technological features present on both the Yamaha YZF-R1 and the YZF-R1M there is a 6-axis position sensor, which analyzes the movement of the frame to optimize control over traction and braking.

The two super sports cars were accompanied on this Milanese EICMA adventure by another novelty, the Honda MT-09 Tracer (or FJ-09 in the United States), a sport-touring version of the MT-09, also known in the States as the FZ-09. Like the original, the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer has a liquid-cooled 850cc in-line three-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder; the model offers multiple adaptations regarding the driving position, thus allowing it to accommodate riders of all body types. Yamaha has equipped the model with an aluminum frame and ABS as standard.

The new models should arrive in European dealerships starting from March 2015, while the price of the new Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M have not yet been announced.
