Yamaha YARD BUILT XJR1300 “BOTAFOGO-N” BY NUMBNUT MOTORCYCLES – For its 20th anniversary the XJR1300 is the third Yard Built produced in a year and based on a road icon. Following in the footsteps of “Skullmonkee”, Yard Built by Wrenchmonkees and “Dissident”, the work of itroCkS!bikes, comes the first creation of Numbnut Motorcycles, the Yamaha YARD BUILT XJR1300 “BOTAFOGO-N”.

For the Dutch crew of bike makers based in Amsterdam, Yamaha is nothing new and, after having participated in various motorcycle events and activities, the participation of the Dutch preparators in the Yard Built project was only a matter of time. The result is a perfect tribute to the XJR. "It's great to finally have the opportunity to work with Numbnut Motorcycles. Today they are among the best custom builders in Holland and represent the ideal choice to continue the series of creations in honor of the 20th anniversary of XJR. We are thrilled with the result of this collaboration, they have created a truly special custom, which clearly shows what its source of inspiration is.” commented Shun Miyazawa, Product Manager of Yamaha Motor Europe. “It should be underlined that the project was completed with an intelligent use of custom parts and additional components, in order to be able to share Botafogo Type-N Special with our Customers, who can request some or all of the available components". The Yamaha YARD BUILT XJR1300 “BOTAFOGO-N” BY NUMBNUT MOTORCYCLES is inspired by a unique example from 1917, the Fiat “Botafogo Special” racing, and it's an impressive custom built without welding or cutting the original frame, but using a mix of ad hoc parts and after market components. Project leader Roderick Seibert worked with Gannet Design to ensure the bike had visual cues that were a tribute to the 1917 racing car, such as the Boranni M-Ray black satin spoke wheels and Pirelli Phantom Sport tires, which suggest the mood of the time.

The real racer look of the Yamaha YARD BUILT XJR1300 “BOTAFOGO-N” BY NUMBNUT MOTORCYCLES is enhanced by the fork, coming from the Yamaha YZF-R1, from the radial calipers, from the mudguard, also taken from the modified R1 and from the double Ohlins shock absorber. The stripped-down racer look is also highlighted by clear Tygon 2375 lines for the front and rear brake reservoirs and black Goodrige braided hoses. Keeping everything well secured are the titanium Pro-bolt disc bolts. The Stack ST200 tachometer keeps the rider in close contact with the engine and the MotoGP-style Bike Sport Developments controls keep everything under control, alongside Biltwell grips. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel by a RAK 520 racing chain that wraps around the Chiaravalli pinion and crown. To top it all off, the 4 into 2 matt black exhaust by MVS Race Engineering.

Owners of XJR extension who want to customize their motorbikes now have a choice of components created by Numbnut Motorcycles, which are in addition to the options offered by Wrenchmonkees and itroCkS!bikes.
