Yamaha XSR700 and XSR700 XTribute: evolved ideas of dynamism that recall tradition [PHOTO]

Yamaha XSR700, in the range Spot Heritage of the brand, represents a point of connection between the performance qualities of the XSR900 and the agility on urban routes expressed by the compact XSR125. A motorcycle linked to tradition that conveys liveliness and distinction, following Shinya Kimura's 2015 concept. The design, which recalls the history of the brand, is associated with a beating heart CP2 which offers torque and character. The look of the new one is also distinctive XSR700 XTribute, a scrambler with retro graphics that recall the historic XT500.

Design of the new Yamaha XSR700

The concept, in addition to recalling the past, is linked to the same construction defined by a two-part frame with a minimalist approach, by the development of the tank and that of the saddle, preserving the customization characteristics. Moving on to the colours, in this case too the gaze was turned towards the past and the most representative models of the Iwata brand, such as the well-known 350-stroke RD2LC from the early '80s which inspired us for the interpretation of the color schemes Heritage White e Heritage Black, one setup in white and blue and another in black and gold.
The design of the circular front light cluster is also connotative, still recalling tradition. The headlight is divided with a semi-circular position light and the design of the supports convey greater compactness in the fork area. The rear light is also rounded, again of this type LED . The minimalist-looking directional indicators are also of the same type.
The instrumentation on LCD it evokes a classic style, located in a more advanced position to improve visibility, keeping in mind the development of the new headlight. The model can also be combined with original Yamaha accessories to amplify its features.

Technology

The motorbike features various refinements regarding safety and performance. Together with the black knobs and levers, the electrical blocks are technically updated to facilitate access to the instrumentation functions. The radiator features new side protections, making vision more linear and allowing the directional indicators to detach from the front. The fork has a revised setting and new, larger front brakes have also been adopted 298 millimeters and the motorbike wears Michelin Road 5 tyres. The model is equipped with the latest generation of the engine from 689 cc compliant with standards EU5.

It represents a new dedication to the famous woman Yamaha XT500. Together with the stylistic references, aspects such as versatility, technology and dynamic liveliness stand out. A scrambler in dress TechBlack with elements combined with the retro color of the aluminum parts, a finish on the brushed aluminum tank covers and graphics that recall the historic XT500, associated with white mudguards and gold-coloured rims. We also highlight the black details also visible on the standard XSR700, such as the frame protections and the radiator cover and also the instrumentation brackets.
The handlebar with reinforcement crossbar is also distinctive, given the scrambler nature, as well as the black rubber bellows. The raised handlebar simplifies maneuvers, also considering the grips with a style reminiscent of off-road vehicles and footrests designed based on the type of vehicle. The driving position is upright while also keeping comfort in mind.
The frame is made of steel, a compact and minimalist design that suggests a certain agility and dynamic versatility. The curb weight amounts to 190 kg, one of the lightest figures in the scrambler category.
Considering the references to the XT500, the XSR700 XTribute model is equipped with a flat saddle embellished with an XTribute logo placed in the rear area. Reminiscent of the off-road bikes of the 80s.
Still referring to the Yamaha XT500, which was equipped with a low manifold with a high silencer, interested parties can equip the new XSR700 XTribute with an optional 2-1 Akrapovič exhaust, featuring a black finish.
The picture is completed by 10-spoke alloy wheels shod with Pirelli MT-60RS tyres, functional on road and off-road.
