Yamaha Xenter 125 and 150 MY 2012Yamaha Xenter 125 and 150 MY 2012

In 2012, Yamaha strengthens its scooter range with a series of technical innovations and design tweaks. But the real news is the entry into the range of a new high wheel: Yamaha Xenter, in the two 125 and 150 versions.

Yamaha also writes a new chapter in the legendary history of TMAX. In 2001 the first TMAX revolutionized the rules of the game, dictating new parameters for a new species of scooter: the sports maxiscooter. Today TMAX gets even better, once again raising the bar of sportiness, performance and motorcycle riding pleasure that it has always been able to offer.

But knowing more will still require a little patience, the appointment is set in Milan on the evening of 7 November 2011 and, the following morning, at EICMA 2011.

Yamaha Xenter 125 – 150: premium technology, performance and stability, on an entry level.

Yamaha revolutionises the panorama of entry level high-wheelers and does so with a new scooter with a sporty DNA, agile and fast in the city, performing like no other on the ring road and on extra-urban roads.
A high wheel that inspires confidence and trust in everyone, thanks to the extraordinary stability provided by the rear mono shock absorber, an exclusive solution reserved for very few scooters. Technologically innovative, practical and comfortable. Designed to be first on all city circuits.

The new Yamaha Xenter engine offers a smooth and fast ride. The new double-spar frame and rear mono-shock absorber guarantee maximum comfort, grip and stability, even in the worst conditions of use.

Yamaha Xenter is also easy to park, because the position of the central stand has been designed to simplify operation, making the scooter extremely light, even for women.
Xenter immediately inspires confidence even when you have to stop, thanks to Yamaha's new UBS unified braking system.

Another strong point of xenter they are the high 16-inch wheels, which offer stability and comfort even on uneven terrain. The rims are fitted with tires with a new tread design which ensure excellent grip. The design of the 5-spoke wheels enhances the feeling of lightness. Every detail on Xenter is designed with the overall project in mind, for a harmonious, elegant and at the same time sporty whole.

Un new engine designed to deliver top-of-the-class performance. In congested city streets, where traffic is a constant challenge, speed of movement and easy handling while driving are a must. And speed, acceleration and traffic-light burning acceleration are some of the hallmarks of the Yamaha Xenter.

Two-wheel commuters enjoy an easy and safe ride, with superior comfort. The combination of chassis, suspension and engine mounting system offer exceptional performance even on rough surfaces, with an agile and reactive ride that is easier to associate with motorcycles.

At the base is the brand new 155 cc single-cylinder engine, the only one in its category with 4 valves. To reduce vibrations, various technologies have been adopted, including the use of forged aluminum pistons, ceramic coating on the cylinders and the balancing countershaft. Together, these measures help to drastically reduce vibrations. The engine was fixed directly to the frame, with a motorcycle-type assembly. A solution that transforms the engine and frame into a single block, and is the secret of extraordinary performance, handling and stability. The effective electronic injection and the ECU mapping also work in this direction, and furthermore ensure burning and progressive acceleration.

Rear mono shock absorber, like on motorbikes

Every driver knows which and how many obstacles he can encounter in the city: from heavy traffic to bollards, from uneven surfaces to tram tracks. Yamaha Xenter is equipped with a rear mono shock absorber, precisely to better deal with these obstacles.

In the world of scooters, the rear mono shock absorber is an exclusive prerogative of the TMAX. Or rather "was", given that from today it is also mounted on the Yamaha Xenter.

This solution, born from Yamaha's experience, guarantees maximum comfort, grip and stability in the worst conditions of use (pavé, cobblestones, uneven sections) because the suspension "copies" the road best, reducing the bouncing typical of other scooters and guaranteeing better road holding when cornering at high speeds, typical of extra-urban and ring road roads.

The shock absorber is positioned inside the frame, close to the center of gravity to centralize the masses and increase handling. Thanks to the variable pitch shock absorber spring, there are two levels of intervention: in the first stage the spring cushions the initial impact, and in the second the stronger jolts. The absorption action is optimal, for small and large obstacles. Arranged longitudinally in the frame, the spring converts the movement of the wheel from vertical to horizontal, avoiding twisting and with a travel of 92 mm. The choice of mono instead of double shock absorber also makes the profile of the scooter unique, streamlined and dynamic.

Ergonomic and comfortable, with an ultra-spacious footboard

The frequent stop and go traffic in the city is better handled if the driver, man or woman, can easily put their feet on the ground. The ergonomic saddle has been designed to make this aspect easier and to simplify parking maneuvers in tight spaces. But it's not just the rider who benefits from this comfort, the passenger has a large and decidedly comfortable saddle at his disposal, to tackle the city in an extremely pleasant way.

Yamaha Xenter It has a double beam frame, which coupled with the mono shock absorber makes the scooter more stable and precise when driving. Its structure has been designed to offer a spacious platform, the widest in the category. This offers comfortable accommodation for the feet and at the same time is capable of carrying, for example, a pack of 6 bottles of water or a trolley.

Xenter also offers a convenient Telepass compartment positioned on the dashboard and opened with a single touch.

Reassuring and powerful braking with Yamaha's UBS unified braking system
In heavy traffic, full control of the vehicle is essential. This is why Xenter is fitted with specifically developed tyres, with exceptional grip. Thanks to the optimized compound and tread design, the tires have excellent road holding and high wear resistance.

For maximum braking control, Xenter adopts an oversized 267mm front disc brake and a 150mm rear drum brake.

Acting on the right lever activates exclusively the 267 mm front disc, while acting on the left lever the scooter adequately distributes braking between the powerful front disc and the rear drum.

Sculpted lines and unique design, without sacrificing functionality

Xenter is not only high-performance, practical and comfortable: it is also ahead of everyone in style. The smooth, sculpted lines of the fairing flow seamlessly, to create the image of a contemporary high wheeler. Using the superposition of different materials, interesting shapes and surfaces were created, and the characteristic double headlight is pure Yamaha "family feeling".

La hi-tech instrumentation it is entirely entrusted to an LCD display and adds atmospheric temperature, clock and practical maintenance warnings to the standard information. At the same time it is much more compact than an analogue one, leaving space for a comfortable compartment that can accommodate the Telepass or other small objects.

The saddle is comfortable and spacious for the rider and passenger, who can hold on to comfortable grab handles integrated into the design of the scooter. The saddle hides a convenient compartment that can hold the rain suit and the anti-theft chain.

The rear light cluster with LED headlights projects a more powerful, brighter and more durable light beam than traditional ones. The very high response speed of the LEDs also increases safety while driving, when a fraction of a second can make the difference.

Xenter features a windshield with integrated hand guard as standard. Its design guarantees excellent protection from wind and rain, even for the hands, ensuring the rider always has excellent visibility.
Well integrated into the design of the scooter, the luggage rack allows you to mount the new 39 liter top box without having to add plates and/or fixing screws, which is also offered as standard. The 39-litre top box, matching the color of the scooter, can comfortably accommodate a full-face helmet and other objects.

Internal bag and ergonomic backrest cushion are optional, as is the dedicated leg cover.
