The new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT + it is a motorcycle for touring enthusiasts equipped with a series of solutions that support control and versatility. For example, we list: connected TFT instruments and integrated Garmin navigation, intelligent driving modes and electronic suspension, as well as millimeter wave radar, a unified braking system (UBS, Unified Brake System) is a system adaptive speed control (ACC, Adaptive Cruise Control).

Different functional devices

The redesigned windshield mounts, a bracket for the 7-inch color TFT instrument cluster, a USB A socket and a new rear brake pedal lever connected to the new unified braking system, are different aspects of a project evolved from a technological and conceptual point of view.
Presents LED lights with adaptive headlights and, when moving at 5 km/h or faster and the inclination angle exceeds 7°, the adaptive headlights automatically illuminate the inside of the curve with a low or raised light beam.

The new instrumentation is visible on a 7-inch color TFT screen, as mentioned, an instrument panel that includes three screen themes and in each the reference to the ACC is placed in such a way as to allow the driver to see the set distance and the selected speed.
The new electric blocks include a joystick and a Home button, there are several functions associated with an ergonomic layout that allows for fluid movement of the thumb. The groups are backlit to facilitate their use in case of low brightness.
Smartphone connectivity is premised through a Communication Control Unit, using Yamaha's MyRide app. A series of menus and functions can be accessed using the new ergonomic controls and, when the bike is not moving, various information is visible including weather forecasts and notifications. Garmin full-screen navigation can also be installed by downloading the Garmin Motorize app, in this case with a subscription service contract, according to the information.

Comfort is favored by a large plexi adjustable to 10 positions and heated grips that can be managed on 10 levels, as well as a height-adjustable saddle equipped with new padding and a redefined shape. A heated saddle is also offered as an original accessory, choosing between 10 temperature levels.
Among the highlighted solutions, the aforementioned millimeter wave radar stands out, located behind the front fairing, which detects the distance to the vehicle immediately in front and weighs only 200 g. A factor combined with the adaptive cruise control (ACC) and the unified braking system with radar link.
This is the first motorcycle of the brand equipped with an adaptive speed control system (ACC), a cutting-edge solution that offers the advantages of cruise control and the opportunity to automatically maintain a distance from the vehicle in front.

The ACC can be managed by choosing between four distance options. When the system detects that the motorbike is too close to a vehicle or if it senses that the movement could cause the motorbike to get too close to the person in front, an intervention request icon stands out on the display.
ACC operates between 30 km/h and 160 km/h, in first and second gear from 30 km/h, while in third and fourth from 40 km/h and in fifth and sixth from 50 km/h. The speed can be increased or limited by 1 km/h or 10 km/h via an adjustment switch. ACC is deactivated if you brake or pull the clutch lever for more than one second, as well as if you turn the accelerator knob forward to the limit of travel.
ACC also features a cornering assist function that prevents speed increases and, if the radar detects a vehicle ahead, also contains the acceleration level.

In the unified braking system with radar connection, three main elements stand out, which act only when the BC (Brake Control) is activated. The system constantly analyzes safety distance data obtained from millimeter wave radar. If the system indicates that the braking action is not sufficient to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front, it increases the brake pressure on the front and rear wheels to assist slowing down.
The ACC system will automatically brake the Tracer 9 GT+ when a pre-selected safe distance is reached, but when you apply the brakes, ACC is deactivated. At that point the radar-linked unified braking system intervenes if it determines that the braking action is not sufficient to prevent a collision.

Other technical aspects

Expected at Yamaha dealers from May 2023, the new one Yamaha Tracer 9 GT + can be selected in the livery icon performance o Power Gray.
It features a die-cast aluminum frame, developed with Yamaha's exclusive CF die-cast (Controlled Filling) system which allows the creation of extremely light and resistant frames with different wall thicknesses, obtaining an optimized balance of rigidity. The unsprung weight is kept to a minimum with the adoption of an aluminum swingarm and SpinForged wheels, also developed with Yamaha technology.
The motorcycle is equipped with “KADS” electronically controlled semi-active suspension (KYB Actimatic Damper System) integrated, a new generation solution configured in collaboration with KYB and designed to offer dynamic and at the same time comfortable performance.

The integrated suspension system is managed by a platform 6-axis IMU which picks up various sensors and automatically adjusts the damping forces, via the hydraulic unit (HU) and the suspension control unit (SCU). The system can be placed in Sport or Comfort mode and adapt to different driving styles.
The engine maps are linked to a D-Mode system fully integrated with the 6-axis IMU and a series of assistance systems. A new system that allows you to choose between four integrated modes: "Sports", “Street”, “Rain” e "Custom".
The “Sport”, “Street” and “Rain” programs are characterized by various levels of intervention and defined on the basis of feedback from the testers. “Custom” allows you to manually select your own intervention settings and store them in memory.

The motorbike is animated by a 3cc EU890 CP5 engine which features an acceleration position sensor (APSG) and accelerator Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T). Among the new features there is also a system of 3rd generation electronic gearbox. An electronic gearbox with a diverse range of functions, being able to downshift without using the clutch. The 3rd generation electronic shifting system will not act in certain situations, for example when engine speeds are extremely low or high and also when the motorcycle is neither accelerating nor decelerating. In these cases, the electronic gear shift system icon will indicate whether or not it is possible to use the system and once the speed or rpm is changed the system will return to operation.
