More powerful Euro 5 engine and technological content

Present the new ones Honda Tracer 9 e Tracer 9GT characterized by fluid and distinctive shapes, technological systems and an engine CP3 da 890 cc Euro 5 which transmits an energetic push.

New Yamaha Tracer 9

The concept of Sports Touring signed by Yamaha evolves, becoming lighter, more eclectic, technological and high-performance. A distinct proposal in Tracer 9 e Tracer 9GT, which represent a symbiosis between sportsmanship and tourism.
The specimen Tracer 9 can be selected between two new colors: Redline predominantly red offering a sportier vision or Tech Camo with a green-grey variety that highlights its defined features.
The new look matches the functionality, considering the attention paid to the layout and placement of the bags. Peculiar is the "arrow" silhouette defined by a windshield adjustable by 50 mm (10 5 mm gaps), front fairing and 18 liter tank, just as distinctive is the light pattern produced by the new front light unit twin-eye full-LED and by the rear light with a three-dimensional effect always LED . The turn signals are also of type LED . Hand guards are also worth mentioning. Among the functional characteristics, one stands out doppio schermo Multifunction TFT (each 3,5 inch picture). They feature a separate interface of operational information visible on the left (multi-color bar-type tachometer, digital speedometer, fuel gauge, gear and TCS mode) then operational information on the right (a four-section overview with a variety of information such as odometer, trip meters 1 and 2, temperature and further displays).
The vision is also enhanced by 10-spoke SpinForged wheels and large diameter axles weighing less than 700 g, with handling and dynamism in mind. The new Battlax T32 tires designed to transmit performance in various conditions have been jointly designed with Bridgestone, as indicated. They measure 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17.

Technology

The motorcycle is equipped with a new Deltabox frame in die-cast aluminium always developed with a type of sporting versatility in mind, in symbiosis with the new 3 cc CP890 heart repositioned and placed with a more vertical angle of 52,3° compared to the previous figure of 47,5°, refining its balance. The specialists studied various dedicated components to maximize the stability of the specimen, in particular the engine supports designed by Kanno Hyoka, considering the performance based on the sensations and feedback perceived by the test driver. Overall, the engine appears as a stressed element, favoring, according to the indications, a functional balance of rigidity.
The chassis includes a new 41 mm fork with 30 mm less travel than the previous generation, taking into account the position of the steering head of the new frame. We also note an adjustable mono and a new progressive system reconfigured according to driving efficiency. The entirely reshaped aluminum swingarm appears inside the external structure of the frame. Although it resembles that of the renewed MT-09, it is 60 mm longer and the wheelbase amounts to 1.500 mm, like the previous Tracer 900.
Another interesting aspect is the fact that this is the first Sport Touring from Yamaha to be equipped with an R1 type radial pump in the braking system. A purely sporty and technological system created by Nissin, equipped with a piston that moves parallel to the travel of the brake lever.
The riding position is also adjustable keeping in mind that this is placed 15 mm lower than the previous model and equipped with an adjustment that changes the height to two positions. Just as it is possible to intervene on the position of the footrests by 15 mm upwards or downwards and of the handlebar forward by 9 mm and upwards by 4 mm, reversing the direction of the handlebar clamps, considering a total of 8 positions different driving conditions according to the information. Furthermore, the typical qualities of a Touring can be found by observing the three connectable rigid suitcases, evaluating side trunks and top cases. A solution “Floating Stay” it is used to stabilize the side bags at high speeds, isolating the movements of the luggage on the motorbike. Therefore, a single-piece wrap-around handle facilitates the assembly of a rear trunk. The chassis can support a total load of riders and luggage equal to 193 kg, in short a load capacity increased by 7%. The range of accessories is varied.

Technology

The presence of the systems connected to the model is articulated, starting from one IMU (Inertia Measurement Unit) with 6 axes that deals with acceleration in different directions and angular velocity in relation to pitch, roll and yaw, now 50% more compact and 40% lighter. A solution that sends data toECU, which processes them according to the management of the traction control system (TCS) on three increasing levels, as well as slip control (SCS) always on three levels of intervention, of the surge (LIF) three more intervention levels that can be selected and deactivated (in total 48 different combinations taking into account the three solutions) then the brake (BC) with two modes of action.
The bike is also equipped with a Cruise Control similar to the one on the previous GT model, which can be operated when driving at a speed of 50 km/h or more, starting from fourth gear and after selecting a speed by adjusting it up or down by 2 km/h with a single press of the switch or by holding down the control. The system can be deactivated by using the brakes, clutch or by turning the grip forward with the throttle closed, as indicated.
Speaking precisely of the accelerator, the system Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) includes technology designed for R1M introduced as a new knob “Accelerator Position Sensor Grip” (APSG). A ride-by-wire system that contains the overall weight of the vehicle, refining the sensation connected to the delivery. Also interesting is the new fuel supply scheme with injectors mounted on the side of the butterfly valve and not, as previously, located directly on the cylinder head. An aspect which, according to the information, involves an increase in efficiency with a fuel saving of 9% and a reported autonomy of over 350 km, taking into account the aforementioned 18 liter tank.
So a system emerges Yamaha D-Mode composed of four operating modes, one more than before, ranging from a more decisive response corresponding to mode 1, to a 4 more suitable in case of rain.

Motor

The thrust is transmitted by a 3cc CP890 engine redefined with crossplane technology. A Euro 5 heart with a low weight (700 g less) and more advanced than the previous drive unit. A three-cylinder in-line engine with greater capacity linked to a 3 mm enlargement of the bore, which also corresponds to an increase in torque equal to 7% or 9,5 kg-m/ more93 Nm generated at 7.000 rpm (1.500 rpm less than the previous figure), therefore an increased power of four horsepower reaching 119 horses at 10.000 rpm. A new central retractable exhaust with symmetrical exhaust gas outlet is also connected to the example. Overall it weighs 1.400 g less than the previous one, making it also functional in the centralization of masses.

New Yamaha Tracer 9 GT

This model features even more refined specifications and the same colors proposed for the Tracer 9 together with a distinctive look Yamaha Icon Performance, which takes inspiration from the Yamaha R1M. The bags are included as standard. Each can carry a full-face helmet and are connected to the subframe of the motorcycle via a floating transport system, as indicated. We also note painted side panels associated with the finish.
The specimen also includes a system of adaptive lights LED type with cornering function designed to illuminate the road when the IMU detects that the motorbike is inclined more than 7° and the speed is at least 5 km/h. This is the second Yamaha model equipped with adaptive lights after the FJR1300AE, but compared to this one there are three LED lights on each side of the fairing with a single LED bulb design. Also functional are the heated grips with a new, more compact section that can be adjusted in a series of 10 options via the scroll wheel.
For this example Yamaha and KYB have developed an electronically controlled semi-active suspension system, known as KYB Ilctimatic Damper System (KADS). The suspension offers a high range of damping forces when compared to traditional solutions, with an instant response. A solution that can be used thanks to the presence of the new IMU inertial platform that works together with theECU, to the hydraulic group (HU) and the suspension control group (SCU). The KADS can be used in A-1, which corresponds to sport mode, then in A-2 mode which favors comfort. Furthermore, a new gearbox is also combined Quick shift system (QSS) characterized by a sensor that monitors the movement of the gear pedal, while the ECU cuts the transmission torque, refining the fluidity of execution based on the information.
