Yamaha TMAX: the new and advanced scooter at EICMA 2021 [LIVE PHOTOS]

A renewed design and technological contents

The new Yamaha TMAX is present at the 2021 edition of EICMA, the International Two Wheel Exhibition at Fiera Milano – Rho. The scooter is recognizable by a renewed and bold aesthetic, observing both the new compact bodywork and the new rims. The model was also recently announced together with the new TMAX TMAX Tech MAX for 2022, which shares specifications and includes additional technologies including a power-adjustable windshield.

Yamaha TMAX for 2022

The body has been redesigned, starting from the sporty front with air intakes and aerodynamic wings. The headlights stand out “twin-eye” newly defined a LED with integrated directional indicators, a new adjustable windshield and also a central air intake designed to reduce wind pressure on the driver's upper body and which also contributes to the attenuation of wind noise. The central part of the model is also interesting, slim to facilitate mobility in the saddle. Finally, the end part is streamlined with an LED light whose design is T-shaped. Just as the reconfigured panels on the rear of the shield and the new boomerangs are characteristic.
The instrumentation is visible on a screen TFT da 7 inches in color and you can select one of three information display styles, choosing between sporty with a block radial tachometer, Intelligent with a needle speedometer and a dynamic display and Authentic with a more classic needle rev counter.
You can connect your smartphone to the screen via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or using the USB port in the waterproof front storage compartment.
Among the solutions there is also one Smart Key with simplified operations to turn on and off the main power, activate the handlebar steering lock switch and open the saddle. There is also an aeronautical-style fuel cap, which opens automatically within two minutes of turning off the main switch for refueling operations. The fuel cap is accessible by carrying the Smart Key with you. There is also an alarm that warns you if the fuel cap has not been closed correctly.
Still talking about technology, the vehicle is also equipped with “ride-by-wire” with a new accelerator position sensor (APSG) and the proven accelerator Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T). The new APSG sensor replaces the traditional cable and pulley system, features a magnet and sensor that detects throttle inputs and transmits data to the YCC-T.
The new circles I am at 10 spokes, developed with exclusivity Yamaha Spin Forged technology which allows you to create wheels with rather thin sections, yet with the same resistance. Also worth mentioning is a selection of accessories and clothing.
Thinking back to the original model, the new Yamaha TMAX is proposed in a new guise Extreme Yellow and is also available in chromatic variants icon blue e Sword Gray. Yamaha TMAX Tech MAX instead it is proposed in Dark petrol o Power Gray.

Technical setup

The scooter is equipped with an upside down fork 41 millimeters and with a single shock absorber at the rear. The suspension settings have been modified for greater sensitivity in the front area and for the benefit of agility, based on greater damping force, as emerged. The curb weight is 218 kg and the use of specific Bridgestone Battlax SC2 tires is also highlighted, designed taking into account the modifications to the suspension part and the exclusive rims defined with SpinForged technology.
Taking into account an aluminum frame and a 5 cc Euro 560 compliant engine, the driving position is redefined with a changed triangulation to favor a slightly more inclined position towards the frontal area. Also noteworthy are the new forged handlebars in exposed aluminium, larger footrests, a new longer saddle and an adjustable backrest with a longitudinal movement of 30 mm.
The slimmer and narrower central section in the thigh area favors the movement of the legs when restarting and the footrests for the passenger have also been relocated.
The engine is a parallel twin-cylinder type 560 cc with horizontal reciprocating piston. The power reaches i 35 kW and the scooter can be driven with an A2 license.
