Yamaha has announced the creation of two special versions of its faired flagship, Yamaha R1. Too bad for us: the two versions, which we will describe below, will be reserved for the French market only and will not arrive in the country's price list. Not bad: only a border divides you from purchasing a specimen, should you be interested. They are called Yamaha R1 SP and Yamaha R1 SP/R and both are a tribute to the French Endurance Team.

The Yamaha R1 SP is marketed at 16.999 euros, an additional three thousand on the traditional version of the Yamaha R1, necessary for the more racing look that is offered with the special setup. Specifically, the Yamaha R1 SP offers a very particular colour, single-seater saddle (therefore total absence of the rear seat), saddle protection cover in Polytron, which they say is very resistant, and double rear exhaust in titanium and Akrapovic carbon.

The second version, Yamaha R1 SP/R, costs 19.999 euros, in France, and, in addition to the special equipment described above, for the Yamaha R1 SP version, it is equipped with an Ohlins FGT Racing front fork and 36 TTX Ohlins fully adjustable rear shock absorbers .

For both the Yamaha R1 SP and the Yamaha R1 SP/R, the engine placed between the fairings is a 998 cubic centimeter four-cylinder engine, arranged in parallel, liquid-cooled, which delivers 182 horsepower, 12.500 rpm and 115,5 Nm. of maximum torque at 10.000 rpm. Essentially, the same engine that powers the traditional version. Likewise, the frame is also the same as the motorcycle which is also marketed in Italy.
