Yamaha Off-Road Competition 2016 – New Yamaha models launched in the 2014 season, the YZ250F and the YZ450F, have demonstrated the winning character of the new generation bikes in MXGP, MX2 and in the USA, dominating the AMA 250 Pro Motocross class in the debut season and the experience gained has been fundamental in increasing the performance of future 2016 models.

La Yamaha YZ450F with its backwards inclined cylinder and the innovative "reversed" 4-valve head with frontal intake it has optimized its efficiency, transforming itself into a total motorcycle that has reaffirmed its status by proving itself competitive at all levels. For 2016, Yamaha engineers dedicated themselves to further refining and fine-tuning the YZ450F, with the aim of maintaining competitive advantage. At the same time, they worked to improve performance, control, feel and handling, developing engine and chassis modifications that took the YZ450F to an even higher level. To give Yamaha riders a key advantage in a high-pressure situation, the YZ450F is equipped with a new and sophisticated Launch Control System (LCS), for smoother starts and faster acceleration. The electronic system increases performance because it precisely regulates engine speed to optimize power delivery. In this way LCS limits the spin (loss of grip) of the rear wheel and also the tendency to wheelie, when you brutally open the throttle at the exit of the gate, in first and second gear.

The 450 YZ2016F engine features power delivery optimization to maximize riding feel. A result achieved with small but significant changes that contribute to improving combustion efficiency, such as the design of the camshaft and valve timing. On the 4-valve head, the intake and exhaust cam profiles have been revised to slightly reduce the overlap period. The use of a higher-lift exhaust cam and new exhaust valve spring reduce drag and optimize low- and mid-range operation. Available as an option, however, lo Yamaha Power Tuner which allows you to vary the engine mapping within the circuit, to adapt it to different conditions. In 1955 Yamaha built the YA-1, its first ever motorcycle, a 125 2-stroke. To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Yamaha Motor, and to pay homage to all the legendary riders who have established themselves in competition with Yamaha, the YZ450F will be available in a special livery Yellow / Black with the famous “speedblock” graphics. In addition to the evocative livery, the YZ450F Limited Edition will be equipped with an Akrapovic exhaust, GYTR clutch cover and handguards, and will be equipped with a Yamaha Power Tuner to remap the ECU quickly and easily, even on the race circuit. The Yamaha YZ450F will be available in Racing Blue and Yellow Speedblock (Limited Edition 60th Anniversary) colors starting from the end of July

After the complete review in 2014, the sector press in Europe and the USA has chosen the YZ250F among the best bikes in its category. In competition, Cooper Webb captured the 250 AMA 2015 Supercross title, and in 2014 Jeremy Martin triumphed in the AMA 250 Pro Motocross. Thanks to these results the new generation of Yamaha YZ250F has given the Japanese brand back an important role among the leaders of the 250 cc 4-stroke class. There Yamaha YZ250F it has already made itself known for the victories achieved thanks to its extraordinary cornering performance and its searing acceleration. Yamaha has decided to make the bike even more competitive, with a series of important innovations on the 2016 model. To reduce the weight of the masses in reciprocating motion and increase response and acceleration, YZ250 adopts a new “flat top” piston. Thanks to the thinner piston crown and shorter piston pin, you save more than 18 g, while the new flat piston crown design helps increase combustion efficiency for superior thrust and excellent performance at the limit of the tachometer, and beyond . To improve reliability, the new piston features additional ribs at the bottom, and the redesigned cooling jet helps reduce the piston's operating temperature by approximately 10° compared to the previous model, for more stable operation and high performance and constants. To achieve more linear torque delivery, the 2016 model adopts an additional balancer shaft and a redesigned rocker arm. The new design improves the balance of the engine, which transmits a sensation of torque linearity, in a very wide range of delivery. A feeling that allows the rider to anticipate changes in the terrain and change the riding position in time. The new design also reduces vibrations, and allows for increased performance and comfort. The ECU control unit is also new with revised mappings. As for YZ450F, also for the Yamaha YZ250F a limited “60th anniversary” edition will be available and will be available in Racing Blue and Yellow Speedblock colors (Limited Edition 60th Anniversary) starting from the end of August.
