In this way the Itawa company can complete the R-Series range which also includes the YZF-R6 and YZF-R1M.
Yamaha YZF-R3: how it's made
Powered by a 321 cc twin-cylinder that offers the power needed to carve curves in mixed mountain terrain and test the bike on the track, the new 3 YZF-R2019 is a "small" supersport that's easy to ride, with all the racing style of the R -Series. Thanks to the low seat height and the ergonomic riding position, the new YZF-R3 is the perfect bike for beginners or expert riders who prefer a compact, agile and fast machine. At the heart of the YZF-R3 is a reliable 321 cc 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, double overhead camshaft twin-cylinder engine with 4 valves per cylinder and electronic fuel injection. The YZF-R3 engine delivers manageable power, thanks to the most advanced combustion technology, forged aluminum pistons and DiASil aluminum offset cylinders.
The lightweight, high-strength steel frame has a simple design and incorporates the engine crankcase as a stressed structural element, offering a perfect balance between rigidity and weight. The long asymmetric swingarm has a design that ensures effective power transmission to the rear wheel, offering excellent straight-line stability, while the Monocross rear suspension is equipped with a preload-adjustable KYB shock absorber that ensures stable damping and contributes to centralization of the masses. The YZF-R3 is agile and responsive, thanks to elements such as the new upside-down fork, the new steering plate, the 10-spoke aluminum wheels, the front disc brake with a two-piston floating caliper, the height of the sell adi 780 mm.
To achieve the right balance between comfort and sporty riding performance for the road and track, the 3 YZF-R2019 adopts a new KYB fork with 37 mm upside down stanchions, significantly improving suspension stiffness, offering a sporty feeling to the front and precise feedback while maintaining high comfort. It is paired with new triple clamps that feature an R-Series style upper triple clamp. The new upside down fork also enhances the overall image of the 3 YZF-R2019, bringing its look closer to that of the larger displacement R-Series models superior, strengthening the pride of its owner and the sense of belonging to the R family. The new tank is lowered by 22 mm, but retains the capacity of 14 litres. The new YZF-R features a fairing and screen that pay homage to the bikes that compete in MotoGP, the YZR-M1, with an aggressive look that also allows for extraordinary aerodynamic performance.
