Yamaha PES2 and PED2: all the electric mobility from Iwata

Yamaha PES2 and PED2 – Last year the annual report issued by the Yamaha brand suggested that two versions of an electric motorcycle, the PES1 and the PED1, would enter production by 2016 and, although the Japanese brand's initial plan was partially slowed down, at the Tokyo Motor Show it is almost certain that two new concepts will be presented.

The Yamaha PES2 and PED2 are very close to the style of the original concepts, frame and design we will have to review once the two electric motorcycles go into production, but they are equipped with new engines. Yamaha PED2

The Yamaha PES2 road bike has an additional electric motor integrated into the front wheel hub which makes it a 2WD motorcycle, designed to test new performance boundaries never tried before. In contrast, the Yamaha PED2 is the partner ideal for tackling mountain paths, with low emissions, with the not too exaggerated performance character of an EV, which also allows us to enjoy the wonders that surround us during a nice motorbike ride. Both models are equivalent in terms of performance. Let's see some numbers of the two new concepts of the Japanese brand. Yamaha PES2: Length x Width x Height = 1.920mm x 680mm x 1060mm and vehicle weight = under 130kg. Instead, the Yamaha PED2: Length x Width x Height = 2.045 mm × 775 mm × 1.205 mm and vehicle weight = less than 100 kg.
