Yamaha MT-09 SP: the new Hyper Naked with a distinctive aesthetic [PHOTO]

A color icon performance embraces the sculpted forms of the new one Yamaha MT-09SP. An example characterized by a high-performance chassis and distinctive aspects.

Sports vision

The aforementioned Icon Performance color immediately stands out, recalling the livery of the YamahaR1M, noting the multi-toned blue/black combination on the air intakes and tank, highlighting an already streamlined appearance. The luminous signature stands out as does the finish embellished with fluid "water transfer" graphics, which underlines a sporty and technological nature, like the aforementioned R1M.
Also reported is a saddle characterized by a type of visible tailoring stitching in a contrasting colour. The overall ergonomics, including tank and saddle, are the result of a second development Kanno Hyoka, taking into account performance based on pilot perceptions and feedback.
From a technical point of view, a new feature is highlighted KYB® fork with 41 mm stanchions with special DLC (Diamond Like Coating) coating and with complete adjustments in the different phases of preload, rebound and compression. A fork characterized by double adjustment in rebound and compression at low and high speed, as indicated. So a rear suspension equipped with mono Öhlins, for remote management of extension and compression and preload as needed, providing consistency to the dynamic action.
Another peculiar aspect of the MT-09 SP is the refined swingarm associated with the new Crystal Graphite frame, to which we must add the contrasting tone with the yellow spring on the Öhlins and the dark colored crown. The specific aspects also include dark black anodized handlebars and levers and the smoked brake fluid reservoirs.

Technique and technology

Among other interesting features, together with the electronic assistance systems connected to the MT-09, the MT-09 SP is also present with a Cruise Control.
Motorcyclists can choose to activate the system from 50 km/h and starting from fourth gear. Once the speed has been set, it is possible to increase it by 2 km/h by single touches on the control or by holding it down constantly. The system deactivates when the brake lever, accelerator or clutch is used, as indicated.
The project, considering the new MT-09, includes a new aluminum Deltabox chassis with CF die-cast system for a curb weight of less than 189 kg, taking up the information, therefore a new DOHC three-cylinder in-line engine from 889 cc Euro 5 and a power that amounts to 119 horses.

Proposal

Available in the exclusive Icon Performance color, deliveries of the model to Yamaha dealers are expected from March 2021 at the list price of 11.199 euros fc, according to indications.
