yamaha Motor communicates that the company is accelerating towards the goal of carbon neutrality for its national and international factories, by 2035. A leap of 15 years, considering that the original objective to achieve carbon neutrality in the Yamaha Motor Group's 2050 Environmental Plan, indicated in July 2021, was 2050.

The strategy

For this new goal we will resort to promotion of initiatives that reduce energy consumption to a minimum, together withuse of cleaner energy sources.
On the first point, the minimization of energy exploitation is linked to the implementation of a theoretical approach based on value, as well as the promotion of process innovations. Specifically, the aim is to minimize energy use, valuing only the energy truly necessary for the creation of products and defining other types of energy consumption as levels of improvement. Also noteworthy is the meticulous implementation of the auto-shutdown of the equipment to aim for zero fixed and standby energy consumption.
As regards the promotion of process innovations, we highlight the introduction of compact-sized equipment with minimum energy requirements, which in any case guarantee high productivity, to guarantee significant energy savings.

Moving on to cleaner energy sources, we talk about renewable and promotion touse of fossil-free fuels.
The use of renewable energy includes a transition to Chubu Electric Power's Shizuoka Green Denki, zero-carbon hydroelectric energy, in all facilities and construction sites connected to the headquarters starting from July 2022. In addition, a gradual transition to the use of energy carbon-free electricity at other national and international group companies, are aiming for a complete transition to carbon-free electricity by 2030.
Another initiative is a further installation of solar panels to increase the percentage of self-produced electricity.
Then, as mentioned, a promotion of the transition from fossil fuels to other renewable and fossil-free energy sources, adopting electric versions of industrial furnaces, heat-generating factory equipment, steam-free air conditioners and more.
From the actions taken, the aim is to achieve a 2035% reduction in CO92 emissions by 2, compared to 2010, deriving from production operations in national and international Yamaha Motor factories. The remaining CO2 emissions will be offset with internationally recognized methods to realize the business plan in achieving carbon neutrality in the plants.
